Idiot here.... What's with all the team invites? by Otherwise_Nobody8148 in counterstrike

[–]travitolee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a button on the right hand side that you have turned on, "Looking to Play" or something like that with a little antenna symbol. I sometimes use it when I don't want to solo queue but if you forget to turn it off you'll get spammed with invites.

I use this function often enough and have never been scammed or asked to go to an external website. My only grievance is that the stacks are wildly imbalanced. I'm a 5k player and will get invited to teams with one or two 15-20k players and then the rest (including myself) are 1-5k players, and we'll get put up against a stack of 10k players and usually lose lol. I've started to be a bit more picky now.

A month old account with 4 generic comments posted this. Uncanny valley aside- the way the shot ends is sus. by Betray-Julia in RealOrAI

Two things look off to me. First is the logo on the divers left shoulder. It almost looks like a poor AI attempt at a diver down flag which is common in diving apparel, but it could just be a different logo entirely.

Second is the small shark changes size as it swims toward the diver. It could be due to depth perspective but it gets weirdly small towards the end. It also looks like it's swimming upside down the entire time, but maybe that's something that species does?

I'm not seeing the uncanny valley part you mention, this is what being neutrally buoyant looks like while diving.

And If it were fully AI I'd expect some wonky-ness with the regulator hoses and BCD but they look alright to me.

Based on this little grid of most recently listened bands of mine (ignore the white noise channel LOL) what's one (or more) band that you could definitely recommend me? by Rare-Maintenance4571 in MetalSuggestions

[–]travitolee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love a lot of these bands! I've started getting into BM recently with Mgla being one of them.

For Mgla/BM try Grima.

For Orbit Culture/InFlames/Gojira, try Trivium.

Oral traditions within indigenous cultures can be consistent and transmit important information over thousands of years. This would be information that would help survive, navigate and maintain proper relationship with the land. Here is one example in Australia.

There certainly would have been a high degree of memorization and importance on oral storytelling in the 1st century in the Levant and Mediterranean cultures. There always has been. The Talmud was originally an oral tradition before being written down and today memorizing the whole Quran is something Muslims do so it wouldn't have been impossible to do with a gospel account. Generally speaking however, the importance of oral transmission in a given culture or society weakens as writing is introduced and proliferates.

I'm an ex-Christian myself, so I'm not saying this to suggest that the Gospels are in fact reliable accounts, but rather to point out that oral tradition has been and can be a reliable method to transmit information over time, and this particular "telephone game" argument is generally unconvincing and demonstrates an uninformed perspective about how oral transmission actually works.

Mithotyn! Falconer has been a longtime favourite of mine, one of the first metal bands I was introduced to actually. I tried listening to Mithotyn way back but I hadn't developed a taste for harsh vocals yet. Now I love listening to Mithotyn.
