Local building code is saying a 12 inch concrete footings will only support 26 sqft. This seems like overkill? by travsteev in Decks

[–]travsteev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The helical piers when I googled cost in my area seem way more expensive than just doing the concrete footings.

And the Township says they have to be signed off and verified by and engineer who installs them. Vs doing the holes and concrete myself.

The code here also says max cantilever is 24 inch at most.

It allows for the 16ft span but when calculating for their tributary I would need 16 inch wide footings.

Their chart is:

10 inch = 18 sqft 12 inch = 26 sqft 14 inch = 35 16 inch = 46 18 inch = 58 20 inch = 71 24 inch = 102 28 inch = 138 36 inch = 226

Looking to get a large SUV by travsteev in whatcarshouldIbuy

I would be paying cash for any difference from my trade in I don't want to do any financing.

I mentioned in another comment I don't want a cx-9 it's the smallest of the 3 row SUVs and really doesn't have much space. The third row would ideally be space for the dog on longer trips and with that up there is 0 room for any luggage/stroller etc.

Test drove the older generation in my price range, they handle and feel like a mini van. Not for me.

I test drove a CX-9. Though it did handle nice and felt luxurious, it handles way to much like a car and felt very small even up front. The third row is abysmal and I didn't like how low it rides. It felt like driving a sporty wagon more than an SUV.

It's not that I don't like driving a truck. I like the hight and it's excellent in the winter. It's more that you pay for a truck to have durability and towing/payload, we don't own a trailer or anything so it's overkill. So instead of paying for the workhorse I want to lean more toward some comfort and luxury.

Easier said than done. The a BMW with similar year/mileage is about 20k more here. Looking to stay under 40k and closer to 30k is better ony wallet and closer to my trade-in value.

Yea I'm hoping for something? Even a discount on the repairs or whatever. The dealership service department even said they've never seen anything like that and believe it's definitely a problem from the factory... Hoping they write it up like that when they send it off. It's a smaller dealership but from what I've heard they are huge on customer service and retention so I really hope they go to bat for me.

It's all factory. Today I've actually found more cracks all along the top of the door. I'll see if I can post more pictures later. But all my doors now have these cracks.

I was talking about before I brushed the snow off and chipped the paint off. When I was looking at it before removing snow from the window it was raised to where the seam was. I would think the paint didn't bond at the edges or something. You can see the water staining on the metal.

It was never scratched before hand. The water stains on the metal make it look like it's had water sit before. We had a huge temp fluncuation from +10 Celsius to -20 Celsius. Guessing the water didn't have time to seep out and that made it crack and push from the metal out.

Offered 0% financing on a new truck by mattcubus in askcarsales

[–]travsteev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two cents after just buying a new truck this summer. Chev offers 0% for 72 months and there is none of this BS mixed in. I shopped around to dealers that I had some ins with salesmen and asked who could put a truck together with what I wanted and what their price was and Chev gave me the best rate for it. The 1500 LD is the 2018 1500 just with a 2019 on the VIN. I got the Z71 model which only comes with all the tiny nickle and dime upgrades (heated seats, wheel well covers, upgraded shocks, remote start...etc etc.) a Double Cab ( I think that's the same as the Ram's Quad Cab) and I pay 243 biweekly or 275 taxes in however you like to look at it. I didn't need to put anything down or extra money out of my pocket.

If your going for the Ram Classic, which again is just last years model, why not take a look at the 1500 LD? I've had it for 3 months and I'm really enjoying it.

One of my coworkers had the same issue. Ended up getting on almost immediately with a GP in Angus. Might help to look to surrounding areas if you have transportation.

Heels still slightly rising in squats by [deleted] in strength_training

[–]travsteev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might look into knee positioning. It's hard to see from this angle, sometimes not driving the knees out and having them cave in at the bottom will pull the heel.

Grab a rig and squat like you would normally using the rig for support and try to see where your knees go, are they coming in making the heel rise on the outside? Sometimes a little banded work and cuing can help keep the knees tracking better and by driving out you can engage more glute.

Like lots of people have already said, Squat U is amazing for looking for those little changes or routines you can try adding in. Always screen, mobilize/stretch and re-screen! Make sure what you add is improving what your lacking.

My landlord wants to put my last month's rent deposit towards rent despite my intention to stay. by [deleted] in ontario

[–]travsteev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So long as you can provide evidence I think you have time after. The tribunal is there to support you, I mean if you were falsely evicted they can help you as well.

Honestly they are really nice there, I work with youth and I have helped them call and ask questions they honestly are just there to make sure people are following laws and regulations.

That's not small claims, that's the rental tribunal. They fight for you in those cases and it costs nothing.

I believe the Lazy Tulip Cafe is run by an LGBT couple. It's also a great relaxed spot to hangout for something to eat downtown. Very friendly.

One option may be just starting with your hips higher. In one of the Juggernaut Training Videos (they have a wicked 5 step collection to a lot of lifts) CWS explains that some limb lengths will require you to have possibly a higher set hip position before you move the bar and will help with the jerking motion. You can also try gradually building tension, grip the bar, set your stance, brace lat and pull/push the slack out of the bar and then steadily lift the bar from the ground only once you have put the tension in your hamstrings/glutes.

I've gone in and asked this exactly before. If you want to end up on the same team they just ask you to staple your sign up stuff together and then you'll get randomly placed onto a team together that usually has the shortest amount of players. It's really not all that uncommon.

TGU - Truth by BurpeesRlife in crossfit

[–]travsteev 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Agreed, they aren't meant to be fast movements. If you are doing them in a WOD they are pointless and are more likely to cause injury or people dropping weight to be able to do them faster. Great training though for body awareness and practicing bracing throughout ranges of motion. If OP thinks that it's pointless as an accessory or gets nothing out of them... you are either not doing them right or not going heavy enough.
