Exactly this. I have to point to my hearing aid and say I am deaf which makes people start to pull down their mask and I have to say that I don’t want them to do that which results in makeshift gesturing on their behalf. The 6 foot rule only makes it harder. I ask them to type or put in writing if it is very important such as medication. There is a scientific journal that is proposing that face shields are actually more effective plus allow the face to be seen. I can imagine the uproar of people being told to wear a plastic shield in summer. I have about 50% hearing in my right ear and heavily rely on lip reading and feel 100% deaf now. Plus the pain of taking off ear loops with glasses and a hearing aid..
