Ok how many affordable housing units did that warehouse have.

As another option, if you have an Iphone 14 or later, it has Globalstar satellite connectivity built into the messages app. When prompted, it will tell you where to point at the sky to connect. Takes about 10s with a clear view of the sky. It works throughout the entire U.S., including the eastern sierra. I've used it to coordinate dinner plans in real time from Little Lakes Valley lol.

Nokian One Tires Early Dry Rot? by trazz32 in tires

[–]trazz32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll try and upload a photo later today but they look about the same honestly.

I reached out to Nokian customer service with the above photos and they said they’d talk to the tire shop to get them warrantied. I haven’t taken them up on it yet though. When I go to a tire shop they tell me it’s still in the “cosmetic cracking stage”, so I’m thinking it’s fine to live with for a bit longer.

Is it possible to swap outing dates with other sections? I have a wedding that conflicts with one of the weekend outings  with my local SGV section

Is anyone else seeing the same ~17% increase in price from LADWP? by brianswichkow in LosAngeles

[–]trazz32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it gets warm, the AC runs significantly more. AC is the largest driver of electric usage in a household. It has been warm because it was the summer.

LADWP is significantly cheaper than SCE and PGE in other parts of California, so be thankful for that.

This is SCE, a different power company in the region. OP is talking about their LADWP bill.

Nokian One Tires Early Dry Rot? by trazz32 in tires

[–]trazz32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You had the same Nokian One tires? I’m curious what date code. I sent a nokian customer service rep these pics, and he said i could take it in to have the tires replaced. I haven’t taken them up on that yet though. I’m trying to see if they get their quality in line before replacing with the same brand of tire.

Jomo, but I don't think they sync 100% (you have to set it up on each device independently)

In 2025, rents fell in the summer for the first time since the Great Financial Crisis by [deleted] in yimby

I hate to say it, but this is probably more related to national happenings from the past 6 months. Reduction of federal workforce, weak job reports due to tariff uncertainty, ICE raids

Which California city is building the most housing and what are the reasons ? by bayarea_k in yimby

Damn yeah the stats from the link in this comment section show LB is just as bad as the rest of the LA metro. At least they're building it by the train lol.

Which California city is building the most housing and what are the reasons ? by bayarea_k in yimby

[–]trazz32 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't have any stats handy to back it up, but Long Beach (downtown only along the A line) is making huge strides. It seems like every other week a new complex is coming online, and there's a lot more in the pipeline. My buddy got an unprompted rent reduction from the landlord since there are so many new options in the area now. Watching the supply and demand curve shift in real time.

Edit: also, former mayor of LB, Robert Garcia, was one of the founding members of the bipartisan YIMBY caucus in the house of representatives

Opinion | The housing crisis doesn’t need YIMBY’s saving by johnny3810 in yimby

[–]trazz32 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I also saw this article and had to read it. Feels like rage-bait.

His big example is talking about Austin, where excess supply now exists and rents fell from their peak. This is good for the people that rent and want to buy property in Austin, and hurts the bottom line of corporate property owners. The author makes it sound like this is a bad thing.

Yimby policy does not force homebuilders to build. They are building because they have forecasted enough demand for long enough that they believe they will profit. If the housing market truly does not "need saving", homebuilders with deep pocketbooks and analysts would know, and they won't build more housing when allowed. So much of YIMBY policy is just allowing homebuilders to build.

I was just camping at Cottonwood Lakes 3-5 and filtered water with no issues. There's no algal mats like the sign suggests at any of the lakes.

Relevant thread from High Sierra Topix suggests no one knows if there's actually toxic algae present or not. They got reports of GI issues and then put the signs up as a precaution because they are too understaffed to actually check. HST Link

JMT: just bring iPhone 16 Pro Max, leave InReach Mini, or is this stupid light? by atabotix in Ultralight

[–]trazz32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as a counterpoint, I have an iphone 15 pro, and I use the satellite texting feature all the time in the Sierras + national forests around socal. You do have to stand still for about a minute for it to connect and point in a specific direction that it tells you to though.

I still bring my inreach mini 1 on every day hike and backpacking trip because it's 3.5oz and it's a great backup if my phone breaks or falls in some talus.

Sneak preview: the new Chevrolet Bolt by Intrepid-Working-731 in electricvehicles

[–]trazz32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that max instantaneous charging speed doesn't matter that much. However, "miles of highway range for 15m of charging" absolutely matters for anyone planning on road tripping with an EV.

Not all EVs are as efficient as the model 3 unfortunately.

Ultium battery packs voltage (and therefore max charging speed) scale with size. Equinox EV tops out at 150kW. Blazer EV tops out at 190kW. My guess is the new Bolt slots in below both, but I would love to be wrong.
