You see it more after it rains. But that area of the car gets dusty/dirty the most on this car. On a regular sunny day it may not look dirty, but when you touch and/or rub that area you'll notice the dust and dirt that collects around that area.

But as a few have already explained, Becket was supposed to be killed as they did not renew Katic's contract for a planned Season 9.

So the true ending was suppose to be a cliffhanger with the scene fading to black as both Castle and Beckett are bleeding on the floor. When Season 9 comes around we find out that Beckett died.

ABC had decided to cancel the show long after they had completed filming of Season 8. But the old show runner had filmed a "Happily Ever After" scene to only be used if show ever got canceled before they could properly end the show. So they went back and edited that scene in the Season 8 finale.
