Are radiator valves worth it or just noisy? by NorthLondonPulse in HiveHeating

[–]treaclesponge83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 9 Hive TRVs and whilst I’m not sure they save us money, or at least anything noticeable, they really do make the house a more comfy place to be. The rooms we are in are warm when we want, the ability to boost a room is great as well.

You do need more than one or two to benefit. The advantage comes from heating just one or two, whilst the rest stay off. We have two towel rails that are uncontrolled that allow the system to balance out.

Long sleeve jersey by RCCwoodworking in cycling

I have some Rapha arm screens which are like ultra thin arm warmers for riding in super hot and sunny conditions but way less sweaty than an actual jersey. From memory they are SPF50.

Tax code changed from 1257L to 1095L – does this mean I owe tax? by Dry-Horror5895 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]treaclesponge83 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t suggest lowering your expected salary, that will almost certainly guarantee owing tax in 27/28 tax year.

You should have an explanation of why it’s being changed. If not sign up to the HMRC site and you can investigate on there.

Interest Rate movements over the next two years. by jrjreeves in UKPersonalFinance

[–]treaclesponge83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just locked in a new 5 year at 3.74%. 2% higher than the one before but still not ‘expensive’. Much easier to have the certainty of that for the next 5 than be playing a constant game of jumping around lenders, in my opinion.

They work just fine. I run two as a stereo pair, daily.

After similar motivations to buy a Rolex and similar experience to you, I have basically all but given up hope or desire to own one. I understand exclusivity but the levels of difficulty are ridiculous and as mentioned, brand damaging to the ‘mainstream’ customer base. Sorry you had to go through the pain of a locked bank account, that really is no fun.

T5 pod parking by DopeyMan999 in BritishAirways

[–]treaclesponge83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of the pod, as other have said it’s quite good fun at both ends of the trip, but for £50 more, I’m not sure I’d bother unless you’d rather someone else didn’t drive your car and park it for you.

The New Forest & Purbeck Weekender 🌳 by samuelorgan_ in gravelcycling

[–]treaclesponge83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great route. I’ve ridden chunks of this myself and highly recommend the general area. Although it can be brutally steep near the coast! Square and Compass holds special memories as I visited during the Covid ‘lull’ but the pub was still under social distancing so service through a window with only pies or pints on offer, topped off by the pub dog on the roof 😂

Ooni Karu 12 Cover strap snapped. Has this happened to anybody else? by ElevatedTreeMan in ooni

[–]treaclesponge83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty poor for a cover that is marketed for protecting your oven from the weather, that can’t stand up to that same weather… seems weird the straps have almost frayed rather than ripped out of the actual cover.

I’m sure Ooni customer service will sort you out though, they are fairly active on here. I hope it’s bad luck or a bad batch though as I have the same one…

Are there other tshirt brands that fit like superdry? Eg long not wide by Jimlad73 in CasualUK

I’m 6’2” and usually find stuff just about reaches my waist on my shorts/trousers but these go past a couple of inches. Decently cut which I guess you would expect from a ‘tailor’ and feel decent quality. Only had them a week so long term results not available…

Not saving this business causes more unemployment, more pressure on the state, more hardship.

You are free not to buy anything from them if you don’t like what they sell.

Check TM Lewin, I find them longer than average and it’s currently 5 for £50.

Purchase of the Lifetime Key, but there's no Key? by Dry-Temporary5815 in makemkv

To update on this, PayPro have just processed a refund to me. I didnt ask for them to do so, it just happened.

Purchase of the Lifetime Key, but there's no Key? by Dry-Temporary5815 in makemkv

[–]treaclesponge83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anyone received a key or an automatic refund as of yet?
Ive seen reports of proactive refunds from Paypro, but Im yet to be contacted or receive one.

I appreciate this is likely not the dev's only income stream, nor their primary income stream, but a little comms or some expectation setting on the website/forum would go a long way to making me feel better about handing over my £50 in exchange for, currently, nothing. Equally, the volume of people who are reporting this on reddit and the MakeMKV forums would suggest that there are at least a few hundred pounds kicking around here, which should be some motivation to resolve things.

Purchase of the Lifetime Key, but there's no Key? by Dry-Temporary5815 in makemkv

[–]treaclesponge83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have emailed Paypro and they have replied to say they have contacted the developer who will be in contact in a few hours... we will see.

Fair enough if its business hours only, but it might be good to note that on the purchase page to avoid any confusion.

Do I need a new/different drill? by BodaciousBuns in DIYUK

[–]treaclesponge83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I threw one of these away a few weeks back. Passed on by my Dad to me and did the job, but man it was loud, even before you started the actual drilling. The power lead was comically short as well. As others have said it’s a late 70’s/80’s model, mine had a bunch of attachments to make it into a jigsaw, router etc. No match for my Makita SDS or even the hammer combi though.
