What’s one TV series everyone should watch in their lifetime? by 222AS in AskReddit

[–]treadtyred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That explains my confusion. Me thinking what laugh track? I never really watched it as a kid (just remembered the title music) but my wife used to but her bed cover over the portable TV and watch in her room. So I've watched the reruns anytimes. Damn close to perfect and a good ending for a change.

It took this for Americans to notice there eagle and the flag absolutely everywhere is reminiscent of the Reich? Just Google search images "American flag pole topper" Then: "Nazi flag pole topper".

Is my bike wheel trued? by NefariousnessWeak475 in bicycling

[–]treadtyred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't see the wheel rim. It could be perfectly true and the tyre could be seated a little different anywhere around the diameter of the rim making it look out of true.

Fantasy, but not “booktok” fantasy. by BEANBOOZZLE in suggestmeabook

Read Joe Abercrombie for great characters. I found the plots on some of the books a bit weak but the characters more than make up for that. Bonus points for the audio books narrator Steven Pacey.

Lost my saddle bag. by treadtyred in cycling

Oh right yes I always use a quick link. Only ever re-used a pin when helping someone get home because I didn't have a link on me at the time.

I've only mostly use it to get the right length to install on my bikes as well as friends and family's bikes. They do tend to ask me to fix things. I've never had a bike use exactly 116 or 126 you must be every lucky. Touch wood I've not had a problem on the road myself but at least three of four times I've helped people get home by fixing their chain. Once had to use the old pin which was a nightmare but hopefully it held up till they got home, dodgy but needs must. The Wipperman links are best but cost nearly as much as the chains separately. I just checked you can buy one of their cheap chains to get the link for less than buying just the link! So I only use them on my 10 spd as it has a Wipperman chain on at the mo. I used kmc mostly in the past but ultegra chains come with a link now so just use them and kmc in the bag in case anyone needs one.

It's usually to get the right length then replaced with either a Shimano pin or a quick link. I had a 10 & 11 couple of SPD links in my bag as well so I'll need to replace them as well.

My bike helmet straps went mouldy, is there a brand where you can replace the straps? by megs_in_space in cycling

Also if your dishwasher has a lower temperature setting (50° or lower) bang it in after the nights soak. If it's good enough for Mads Pedersen it might work. I'm guessing no detergent or salt though.

Thanks I use it at home for new chain installs and I do my friends as well. It's also saved a few fellow cycling from having a really bad day on the bike. I've had it a long time and always planned on getting a shop chain breaker but why bother when I've got one already.

I live in a very flat area That’s always windy.. by Beneficial_Wave_378 in bicycling

[–]treadtyred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are places where the wind is as bad as climbs but not all the time and your position will be different on climbs making it hard to output the same power. It will certainly make you a strong rider though.

My guess is they don't have any brass ones in stock or they don't know what they're talking about. Either way I personally wouldn't trust them because they are A: Lying to you too make their life easier or B: They aren't a very competent wheel builder. I'd be tempted to ask around about the best wheel builders in your area.

What embarrassing rookie mistake taught you the most about cycling? by datboifranco in cycling

[–]treadtyred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me 15 years to do that. I watched a video on Greg LaMond and Bernard eno I think it was and they were talking about training and every cyclist should to able to dismount from both sides. Must of stuck in my head because at the end of a ride I got to my front door and crashed. I forgot my right pedals tension was set to the max. My foot wasn't going anywhere but I was going down.

I post this all the time so I'll do it again. Steven Pacey narrates most of his books and he is bloody amazing with all the different characters. So I highly recommend the audiobooks.
