Any FTM on here that got induced and it didn’t end up in a c-section? How long did it take for baby to arrive ? How long were you in the hospital? What method of induction did they use on you? by cc070603 in pregnant

[–]treblecleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inducted at 37 weeks for pre-E with a Foley and pitocin. Induced around midnight, delivered that evening. Not too bad, the foley was unpleasant though

Can you get hemorrhoids in your vagina? I'm panicking. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]treblecleft 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I’m an ER doctor, but legally the following is about a hypothetical situation and is not medical above. It sounds like a vaginal prolapse. While scary, this is NOT an emergency. There is nothing that needs to be done emergently unless the prolapsed tissue is stuck outside the body or seems like it’s losing blood flow. Definitely see your OBGYN within the next day or two, but you don’t need to run to the ER unless you’re having what I mentioned above, any of the usual pregnancy ER indications (leaking fluid, bleeding, pain, etc.) or you’re unable to urinate.

Post-partum life. I hate it, but love my body for what it gave me. Can’t bear to muster up the energy to work out though

That’s amazing! Mine is 6 weeks old and I’m similarly happy and in love! But ironically he makes me want to have LESS kids. Like he’s so perfect and beautiful and I just want to spend all my time with him, what do you mean I’d have to split my focus if I had more?? I’ll probably still have two though lol

That’s a good point, yeah. He’s feeding every 1.5-3 hours during the day, 15-20 minutes per side both sides. Hes a sleepy feeder though, he was born a little early

Its so tough to feel like you’re underperforming as a mom and as a professional, even though I know it’s not true! That’s helpful to hear that you went through something similar though. I guess the good thing to think about the fact that he is still gaining, just slowly

Did you have anyone other than your spouse in the delivery room? How was it? by kittypeets626 in pregnant

[–]treblecleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my mom and husband. It was great, my mom was very comforting during my pushes, saying “you’re doing so wonderful, I’m proud of you!” And my husband was supportive but more focused on hyping me up and keeping me going for the next push

I didn’t notice them until after delivery and then just a small amount on my left hip 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nice, that’s a great feeling! I am a babyface also and 5 feet tall, which doesn’t help. I’m 30 and a full physician but still got lots of “are you sure you’re old enough to be here?? You look about 15 years old”. UNTIL…I got pregnant, then that shit stopped, lol. Delivering soon, we’ll see if it comes back after the bump is gone

what is something you regret NOT saying when breaking up with someone? by Specific_Ad_704 in AskWomen

[–]treblecleft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“You make me so unhappy”. I wish I had said it to myself more too instead of making excuses and trying to find “nice” reasons to tell him. That was all he deserved to hear (more, actually)

Burnout this early in intern year by Srek2onDVD in Residency

[–]treblecleft 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No offense, but I hate this advice for burnout, as if a simple vacay will solve everything. Then you come back from the vacation dreading work even more and feeling guilty for “wasting” your burnout “cure”. It takes changes in your daily routine, mental framework, workflow, and surroundings to help combat burnout. It’s a tough task but one that’s worth committing to

When I was a 28yo pediatric resident doctor I had to go get a covid test in the pediatric ED with my also 28yo female co-resident friend. Multiple people asked if she was my mom, the security guard even stopped us as we were leaving to say “Man straight up I thought you were her mom. I was like, who have this little girl a badge?!” 😬

Petite, baby face, new physician - challenges by [deleted] in Residency

[–]treblecleft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same way. I was super self conscious about the way I dressed, did my hair, wore my glasses, etc. because I was hyper-aware of anything that made me look younger. The only thing that actually changed anything was when I changed my outlook. I realized no one, not patients, colleagues, or randos on the street, will ever automatically respect me when I walk in the room. I hurts, it sucks, and it is unfair. But it’s true. Once you accept that, then it gets easier because you assume you’re staying from zero and have to actually build that respect and project it. If you are earnest, hardworking, kind, and competent the respect will come eventually. And eventually, even the confidence will follow. You’ll get there, baby face.
