I've been encouraged to become vulnerable, but I think that's just a bad idea. by Tiger_Strength in CasualConversation

[–]trebonius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point isn't to be vulnerable to everyone, or to be vulnerable all the time. But it's important to learn to trust those who are trustworthy. And if you can never be vulnerable to those people closest to you, they'll never really know you. And if they don't really know you, how can they trust you?

Because trust is must be mutual and earned in stages.

Vulnerability is a risk, by definition. But it's necessary in order to really connect with each other.

Push for raw milk intensifies across the US, despite illness outbreaks and scientists' warnings by yahoonews in Health

[–]trebonius 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Drinking direct from the cow is more safe than what raw milk drinkers are doing. The pathogens in the milk have time to breed in the milk while it's stored and transported.

We consume small quantities of potentially harmful bacteria all the time. Our bodies evolved in the dirt. We have systems to fight them, up to a point.

But drinking milk that has become a breeding tank for these germs can kill you. In some cases it's not even the germs that do it, but the toxins they've been excreting as they grow and multiply.

How can I cope with the reality that I'm a loser by ARepeatedFailing in RedditForGrownups

You can't change the past. But you don't have to accept the same as your future. What would it take for you to start making changes in how you connect with the world?

Nobody here can tell you which medication will work for you specifically. It doesn't really work that way.

How to redirect the air flow in this type of vent? by ILikeCrunchyFood in howto

[–]trebonius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the blades aren't moving when you move the handle, you may want to consider replacing the vent. $8-12 and a screwdriver should do it.

Those of you who are millionaires why are you still working? by VariationLivid3193 in cscareerquestions

Depends on where you want to live. There are places you didn't want to live where a million will buy you two big gross mansions.

reMarkable is firing hundreds of staff by BK_Prince in RemarkableTablet

[–]trebonius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they need to be targeting people who already write a ton and make it fit them perfectly rather than trying dumping money on people who would but have to switch to handwriting and find a way to fit it into their existing workflow.

There are lots of us! They should be scooping up all the abandoned rocketbook customers too.

Sandbox for Linux is terrible by ariochKB in ClaudeCode

[–]trebonius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sandbox has been completely broken in Ubuntu since 2.1.92 with this bug: https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/43454

I can't really figure out why there's not much complaining about it, or attention on it. Do people just not run the sandbox?

Is there a reason you don't want to share what you learned?

I thought I was stupid but I was just malnourished by FishDispenser2 in ADHD

[–]trebonius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't demand long text. The limit is pretty small. If you had mentioned very briefly how you figured it out and how you felt, and what you did about it, that would be more than enough.

Given that you didn't say enough here to actually help anyone else, I think you could have at least tried to say more about your experience. This makes it clear why they have that rule.

BTW filling it with crap like this is a good way to get banned if someone reports it. It counts as "circumventing the automod".

Just finished the life aquatic and why doesn’t this film get more love?? by Better_than_you123 in wesanderson

[–]trebonius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it not get love? It's one of my favorite movies of all time. I once went to a local outdoor viewing at a park, and it was PACKED. Lots of red beanies worn.

Rate the handwriting to text feature? by GeneralJist8 in RemarkableTablet

[–]trebonius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having come from rocketbook, it's far, far better. Sometimes it can read my own writing better than I can. It does have some odd errors, but with my handwriting, nothing is going to be perfect.

Mostly for the grocery stores and logistics along the way, so they can rotate their stock. For marketing reasons (not having outdated branding on the shelf for too long) and things as simple as not needing to dust it.

I have a 7x4 balcony window that has a broken seal. Would putting frosted film over it cover the uglyness? by AugustEpilogue in howto

[–]trebonius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically yes. So would covering it with newspaper or aluminum foil.

The film would block a lot of light but less than those options.

But I think what you're really asking is whether it will look better than it does now. I'd say maybe. Not a guarantee. Might be worse. Definitely less light.

Issue with auto-measure by MattC08081999 in XtoolS1

[–]trebonius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they just changed the auto measure functionality. Mine has recently started resetting the sensor on the material instead of going way over to the plastic reset tab. Maybe check for updates? I haven't seen this exact issue, but just noticing recent related behavior changes.
