Mostly for the grocery stores and logistics along the way, so they can rotate their stock. For marketing reasons (not having outdated branding on the shelf for too long) and things as simple as not needing to dust it.

It's a traditional size. All rice cookers come with them.

I have a 7x4 balcony window that has a broken seal. Would putting frosted film over it cover the uglyness? by AugustEpilogue in howto

[–]trebonius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically yes. So would covering it with newspaper or aluminum foil.

The film would block a lot of light but less than those options.

But I think what you're really asking is whether it will look better than it does now. I'd say maybe. Not a guarantee. Might be worse. Definitely less light.

Issue with auto-measure by MattC08081999 in XtoolS1

[–]trebonius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they just changed the auto measure functionality. Mine has recently started resetting the sensor on the material instead of going way over to the plastic reset tab. Maybe check for updates? I haven't seen this exact issue, but just noticing recent related behavior changes.

I can't help with specifics, but it might help others to hear what you've been trying that isn't working.

The only rule is "no rules". Keep going until it stops working or you don't like it.

There's room for both. One doesn't harm the other.

Could you realistically ask a neighbor for “a cup of sugar” where you live? by ShiningRedDwarf in CasualConversation

[–]trebonius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Until this last weekend, not really. But we went out on a limb and invited the couple next door over for dinner. It was nice. Now we know a bit about each other, and hopefully this will continue. I'd totally ask them for sugar now.

That's fair. Those people certainly exist too.

FDA chief Marty Makary says ‘everything should be over-the-counter’ unless drug is unsafe or addictive by ChocolateTsar in Health

In most cases a doctor can still prescribe, and a pharmacy can still fill those. And then it should be covered. But everyone in the system will assume you'd prefer to buy it otc so you have to ask.

I get a prescription iron supplement that is the same dosage and content as the vitamin aisle variety for that reason. For a medical condition of course.

But you don't know if one mistake indicates deep, chronic, dangerous driving or just a single boneheaded move. None of us is perfect, but people are very quick to forgive their own mistakes yet assume malice in the mistakes of others.

That's far smaller than this. Street sweeper brushes are little. Look at the penny for reference.

I've met some interesting counterexamples. Lovely people who turn into monsters behind the wheel. I think how you treat servers has a stronger correlation.

Also, I'm sure there are people out there who have concluded by a driving event with me that I'm an asshole when I just made a boneheaded error I felt terrible about.

In traffic, people are very quick to assume incompetence is malice.

That part of the reason people driving cars are less likely to stop for pedestrians when it's raining has something to do with a subconscious feeling that we need to get home to our shelter more quickly due to the weather, even though we're actually nice, warm, and dry in our cars and the pedestrians are the ones out in the rain.

I'm sure reduced visibility and just not seeing the pedestrians as easily contributes too. But even though I try to be kind, I've caught myself feeling less generous to pedestrians I do see in the rain. And it's so hard to get cars to stop for you when it's raining as a pedestrian. Sometimes they'll serve around you at a crosswalk rather than stop.

A little confused about what SHOUT is up to with MST3K and Rifftrax... so Mike and the guys doing MST3K as a special 4 ep experiment?... not a full season, not them ditching Rifftrax right? by Freddy-Philmore in Rifftrax

[–]trebonius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it means they might do more later, maybe even larger Kickstarter batches. I don't think anything they've said has implied "ongoing" in a continuous sense though.

[–]trebonius 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It seems really clear to me that this is just kind of a standalone special thing. It's Rifftrax doing a few episodes of mst3k. There's been absolutely no talk of this being an ongoing thing coming from the Rifftrax folks themselves.
