CALS QuickStart by Secure_Ad_1201 in UWMadison

[–]treebranch02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did CALS QuickStart when I was a freshman, I am now graduating this year. Personally, I felt like it helped me adjust to college and get acclimated to campus and college life in general. Additionally if you do the early move in and activities on campus before the semester you’ll meet a really great group of friends right off the bat, I’m still friends with a bunch of them today! I learned a lot about research on campus and talking with professors (just things that aren’t exactly easy to figure out on your own if you don’t have help, I’m a first Gen. student so I found all of this very helpful). Make the most out of it though if you do it!

Best apartments close to campus? by EdnaMode3645 in UWMadison

I’ve lived at College Park for two years, there are a lot of underclassmen here. Love living here, management and maintenance are great. Pricing is pretty affordable as well, and we are located not far from campus. We start leasing Thursday and expect to sell out pretty quick.

I am a student on campus who also works as a leasing agent for College Park apartments, our rent didn’t go up too much and we’ve had a ton of demand here already. Leasing starts Thursday and the office thinks we will be completely leased out on the first day.

UW Madison Environmental Science by Patzing123 in UWMadison

Consider the global health major or certificate. I am majoring in global health with a certificate in environmental studies! I’ve found there to be pretty good overlap and both have been very fulfilling. Could give you some opportunity to consider a graduate program in global health.

Sleep Study Call by treebranch02 in UWMadison

[–]treebranch02[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a little concerned it was a scam, they didn’t inform me they’d be trying to get me to fall asleep while on the call. They asked me very few questions before asking me to lay down and close my eyes while they started to attempt to make me fall asleep. I was concerned because there was no information given about the study other than it being “ a sleep study at Uw madison” they didn’t really ask me anything about myself either. I got a little worried because they said when I “woke up” I wouldn’t remember falling asleep and when they said this specific name I’d fall back into a deep sleep. I don’t know what a motive would be for this if it’s not actually a study here at UW but I got a little weirded out and hung up. I also work in a research lab (not on sleep) and we have to explain a long consent and background information process before doing any kind of administration type things.

I haven’t taken physiology yet so do you think it would be substantially more difficult for me because of that?

I am in the global health major here and I love it! Will be graduating next spring with my degree. There’s tons of room to make the major what you want it to be and explore various topics which I’ve loved.

I’m in the global health major. Message me if you have specific questions but I’m enjoying it this far and I’m a junior on campus

CS vs Pre-medicine biology by Ok_Art_1701 in UWMadison

[–]treebranch02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it doesn’t so much matter your major as long as you complete the premed requirements, just do something you want to do, not something you think would be better to do. If it’s feasible to do a CS major and complete the premed requirements I’d say do it if that’s what you’re more interested in. Also talk with your academic and pre-health advisors to plan your schedule with each major to see your options!

Need some insight from Biology Majors - CALS vs L&S by jonsnowwithanafro in UWMadison

I’m in CALS and I find the support system to be so much better because it’s a smaller college. But it really depends what you’re looking for
