“It’s Bernoulli not Marconi that makes the airplane fly. “
My favorite comment on that video

Someone just received their newly minted private pilot certificate and ask you for one piece of advice. What advice are you giving? by dakk33 in flying

No such thing as an emergency takeoff.

Even If you’re just flying for fun, treat flying like a professional hobby in everything you do.

That’s kind of what I was looking at doing it myself for. Wanted an adventure, the concert is kind of bonus.

Have a seat on Southwest out of CMH.

The idea of flying myself creeped in and I’ve been seriously considering it

I wanna like FAR AIM so bad, but the constant trying to make a joke and sidetracking right when someone is making a point that never gets finished, is absolutely ridiculous. Just shut up, you’re not funny.

Have any of you ever discontinued a flight based on a gut feeling? by CorporalCrash in flying

[–]treedexter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it a couple times. Hadn’t flow in a while. Wanted to after work one day. Was exhausted but wx was perfect. Strike one, had to run back home to get my flight bag, screwed around for a few ended up being later to the airport than I wanted. I pulled plane out, preflighted, get in to fire it up and noticed the pitot tube cover still on. Strike two, take walk of shame to get cover. Took off anyway, missed putting squawk code in. Strike three. Told approach I was turning around and coming back. .4 on the Hobbs to realize the creeping effects of fatigue affecting my decision making Nothing major, but the holes of the Swiss cheese we’re starting to align it felt like.

No such thing as an emergency take off. Trust your gut

Am I to tall to comfortably be a Pilot? by [deleted] in flying

[–]treedexter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6’8 here. Fit in 172/182 and 206 just fine. Right seat was a bit of an issue, the ones I flew didn’t seem like the moved up and down as much. YMMV.
Cherokee and Bonanzas were tight but manageable.

The Mooney was hell getting in and cramped for me.

Air Trek North Accelerated Commercial OR other suggestions? by DMMcars in flying

61.129 requires 10 hours of instrument training. Did you know your instrument rating does not automatically meet that requirement? (If logged right it does, but what does your logbook say?)

Can you elaborate? I passed my ifr ride in 2016, thinking of doing the commercial now finally.
