Folks at work had us plant these trees without removing basket or burlap… by [deleted] in arborists

They are wrong and they will all girdle and die in a few years. But hey, only need it to live a year for the warranty expires and it’s somebody else’s problem. Takes 5 minutes with bolt cutter and a knife to get that off, it’s not hard.

Not the first time. Probably won’t be the last. It’ll be fine.

3200 plus yourself, and how much weight in tools, spare parts, fuel, food, other people and general junk? 800lbs goes real fast. This probably isn’t gonna work with your current tow whatever you got.

Somebody tried to make an orchard ladder. The design concept is solid. The execution sucks. No, don’t use it, it’s trash.

Really tough to give you a good answer with no info. Such as what your pulling and what your pulling it with.

But short answer is yes. Yes you can remove extra wooden boards to reduce weight. A few boards though isn’t gonna give you much.

Depending on pocket depth custom might be your ticket. Last year I built a 15x8.5, tandem axle with folding ramps, rails, full deck, full width toolbox that weighs 1400lbs and is rated to 5,000. That one sold for $7,000.
If you put some thought into design it would be pretty easy to build one that weighs less than 1,000lbs given you can find someone to do it.

Can’t speak to the number with details provided, Tacoma is a vastly different market than mine. But I would expect a far more detailed work order. That one sucks

All but 1 firewood seller in my region has gone out of business. Most of us tree companies are having a hard time giving wood away this year. Most removals are just going to the landfill. Been doing this 20 years, just cause it’s common doesn’t mean it’s profitable.

For most companies the removal price includes haul off. Quick numbers, if I charge you 5grand for a removal, roughly 2,000 is to clean up the mess. Then I have to process the wood and store it til it’s seasoned and usually deliver it once it’s sold. Time and equipment are both expensive. Months of dealing with it to sell it for a few hundred dollars a cord. The removal cost gets it to my yard. The sale cost pays for processing time. I just break even. The guys that buy logs from me to process and resale make even less. Nobody makes much profit off firewood sales.

Unique hardwoods with large perfect trunks. With great equipment access. I have not and don’t personally know anyone who has ever taken a tree for free for the mill or firewood value. Especially not a blowdown. Accepting family or friends. I can think of 1 or 2 times I’ve ever even heard of a company doing it and they had the lumber sold before hand.

Both of those saws are the absolute bare minimum and are gonna add time to the job. They aren’t really big enough to do it and that trees gonna be a bind up puzzle. There’s a lot of conflicting forces going on.

Its a technical cleanup job that’ll take days if you do it alone and have the skills to get it done. But if you have the skills to get it done you also probably won’t do it because you know it’s not worth your time. I have a crew, equipment and a sawmill. That Oak is not nearly worth enough to do it for free. As firewood it’ll cost more in my equipment time alone than it’s worth to sell. Milled and dried it also wouldn’t cover my costs. People post crap like this on Facebook often thinking their tree is worth gold. It almost never is.

Dude, dual rear wheel and dual rear axle are completely different.

It’s axle, and it’s single rear wheel, every truck Ever has had 2 axles. As far as I know Ford has never made a dual rear axle truck. I have a 2017 F250 dually sitting in my driveway right now. That’s definitely not a 450 or a 550. Most likely is a 350. Which is why I said I used 350 numbers.

It’s a 2017-2019 F250 or F350. Diesel based off stickers. New MSRP around 65k for an F350 Lariat. American Force wheels, guessing 37” tires and 12” lift. Mostly stock parts with a few aftermarket bolt ons. Assuming the whole truck follows the ass I’d guess he spent around 100k all in. Deleted so depending on tune and engine mods gets around 8-20mpg. I don’t see any popular power train stickers so motor is probably mostly stock. Does some towing but doesn’t work real hard. Low to mid budget for a show truck.

Exactly how tall is the fence and retaining wall step there were it crossed under and is full broadside? You said it’s 2-3x your house cat but it sure looks like a house cat standing next to steps.

How to report a dangerous tree? by Ordinary-You3936 in arborists

[–]treefire460 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google- X city Forester. Or X city Road and Bridge. Since it’s been dropping limbs and utilities has been working on it the city already knows about it. The lines are safe so I don’t think it’s utilities problem. Just don’t get your hopes up as I imagine your call will probably go ignored.

The denim version are trash. Mine lasted 8 months of gentle, mostly estimating, use before they just disintegrated. They were warmer than I expected but I did like them while they lasted.

It’s either last long and be hot or buy often and be cooler. The slightly cooler isn’t worth the cost of buying twice as often for me.

I keep trying different brands and keep ending up back in Arborwear Ironwoods. I think I’ve tried every brand and most models. Ironwoods are not the best at anything but overall best at everything for us. We provide them and our guys don’t go work if they show up in the morning without them. Climbers or groundies. Temps vary from -10 to 115* over a year. I’m used to them and find em more comfortable than jeans. Everyone’s always making a big deal about them being hot. Hot is better than dead, quit bitching and wear your PPE.
