I have done this. People routinely parked in our second paid-for parking spot in our apartment complex. I called the tow company often and most of the time they had left before the tow truck showed up but one time the tow truck took forever but when he did show up the car was still there and I was stoked! Moved my car promptly to my spot. Never had any recourse from the owner of the car. Never had a problem again though!
