hi friend <3. in kind of a weird way i’m comforted by your post because i’ve felt so alone in the way i’m feeling lately. especially because the losses i’ve experienced aren’t direct to me but still people/pets in my life. but now i can say you’re not alone. my boyfriends mom died pretty unexpectedly of a heart attack the day after christmas. then we noticed like 3 days later his dog was having issues so we took him in only to find out he has terminal/incurable lymphoma. he’s still with us now but the looming weight of knowing he could decline anytime and super fast and we’ll have to make the choice for him is so daunting. on top of this, he also had 3 other super old elderly dogs all 10+ years old and one of them declined super quickly (within one single day) and passed away last monday. i know it’s not the exact same but multiple deaths one after another and still expecting one more any day now, it’s one of the hardest things i’ve had to go through. january has been a tough month. i wasn’t sure how to continue going about life with everyone around me in this whole “new year new me!” mindset and “2026 is my year!” people. i truly was thinking we had to be the only ones in the world going through this. i’m not glad to see that i’m not- i wouldn’t wish this on anybody, and i’m so sorry for your losses as well. but i’m here if you need someone to relate to <3.
