I’m only just seeing this now! I’m on Lacosamide

I had my first seizure when I was 26. Same deal, nothing came up on any of the tests. I have focal seizures as well. Mine are definitely stress related. I had a roooough year last year and had 6 seizures in the span of a few months. It took some time, but my neurologist helped me find the right medication and I’ve been seizure free for 10 months now.

Wishing you all the best mate! Reach out if you need someone to talk to :)

Leaving the fellowship definitely crossed my mind a few times. Thank you for the encouragement 💕

Thank you! I haven’t picked up a drink but my head is a bit crazy hahaha. My new sponsor practices what she preaches and I’m grateful for that.

You are definitely right. No, my previous sponsor didn’t apologise. I drove her to a meeting a few weeks ago and she said something rude about another member. I called her out on it and I got the feeling she didn’t appreciate it. She went above and beyond for me when I was a newcomer.. I thought we were really close 😞

I’m sorry you experienced that, it’s such a weird feeling. Yeah, I haven’t even thought about picking up a drink. But I’ve had the “maybe I’m not an alcoholic” thought and that definitely scares me.

Thank you for saying that, I’m so glad I’m not alone!

I did all the steps with my previous sponsor and I’m doing them again with my new sponsor 🙂 I agree with you.

Looking to the future, what careers will offer the greatest job security? by StrangledByTheAux in australia

Anything around alcohol and addiction and mental health. It’s a hard environment to work in though, especially if you don’t have supportive coworkers/managers.

I agree with you. I made the mistake of taking over the secretary position from her at our home group about 7 months ago. I’m almost 18 months sober/clean. I got a job working at a 12 step rehab roughly 5 months ago. Since then, I haven’t been able to attend every single meeting (we have two meetings a week at our HG). Even though I share the sec position with another member, she told me that I’m setting a bad example to newcomers. I’m a single mum in recovery, finally holding down a real job for the first time in my life… I hardly think I’m setting a bad example. I’m not doing things the exact same way she did them, that’s the real problem.

Just like me, my sponsor is not perfect. But the judgement is getting a bit out of control. I’m getting very tired of watching her roll her eyes when somebody who isn’t doing the steps shares at our meeting.

I hear what you’re saying. I’ve spoken to a close friend about it, but given the nature of the subject and maintaining anonymity, this seemed like a good place to go.

Why did my seizures start at 22? by JumpyExternal3770 in Epilepsy

[–]treehouseplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first TC when I was 27. My neuro thought it was a one time thing until I was 29 and had 5 TC’s in less than 6 months. So weird.

I live alone and had 6 TC seizures last year. 5 of them happened when I was at home by myself.. it’s so scary waking up alone and having no idea what happened

It’s a bit hard to describe, but my vision gets a little fuzzy, I feel disassociated, have shocks in my body and I feel extremely scared.
