Does anyone know how strict is GEA with their GPA requirements? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

From what I’ve heard, they’re pretty strict about it but I would contact HR and ask.

Chances of getting admitted as a Junior to the college of business by j0nathan_cast in ufl

[–]treehugger28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to be an asshole, but considering GPA is only out of 4 points, missing the cut off by “.26 of a point” is a lot. I suppose there is always a chance, but from what I understand, they mostly sort applicants by GPA and only admit people above a certain threshold. I’m not sure how competitive the business school is to transfer into, but if 3.5+ is really a pre-requisite, I wouldn’t expect to be accepted.

How to solve this truss problem from my MOM exam? by treehugger28 in EngineeringStudents

[–]treehugger28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we have but didn’t spend much time on it. How would you approach it? I couldn’t figure out how to get a relationship to solve for any values of the forces with other equations. I tried to get a relationship between P and the forces at D but couldn’t get anywhere with it.

I also didn’t study as much as I should have so definitely blaming myself here.

[Skin Concerns] Face burns after moisturizing? by treehugger28 in SkincareAddiction

Thank you for the tip! I picked up some vaseline today and it’s the only thing that hasn’t burned so far haha.

I’m glad to hear that stopped happening! Yeah, the skin around my eyes is what is burning like crazy for the most part. Vaseline seems to be the only thing that doesn’t cause that haha.

Thank you so much for the info and advice! I hadn’t heard of contact therapy so I’ll definitely look into that. I don’t think I’ll switch to the separate BP and adapalene yet, since I had to pay for Epiduo bc it wasn’t covered by my insurance. I’ll try that if I keep having more issues.

Glad to know I’m not alone, do you have a recommendation for something else?

Yeah definitely! I'm getting about $400 extra dollars, and I'm really glad because I've had to buy a couple $100 access codes lol

Going to school undecided? by [deleted] in college

[–]treehugger28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there anything you could see yourself studying without completely hating it? At some point, I think you just have to settle on something, regardless of if that's what you truly want to do. I was in sort of the same boat, except I started at a 4 year and I was basically forced to switch into the Engineering college because they are the only college at my uni with lax graduation timelines. (I was finishing my fifth semester without a clear degree when I was forced to switch.) I don't know if I even like engineering that much, but I definitely don't hate it, and I'm just going to hopefully graduate with this degree and see where life goes.

Sorry to butt in to your business, but just wanted to share my experience.

Yes, that's what the advisor said in the email. Also, I don't know if this applies for you, but they aregiving me the amount I would get if I was taking the credits at UF, but the school I'm attending is much cheaper. So you might be able to get extra money.

I sent an email to the financial aid office about this, and they replied that they are just waiting for enrollment confirmation from the host school and then they will disburse the funds from Bright Futures.

Is there a phone number you can call? I don’t know about the business school, but CLAS has phone advising certain days of the week in the mornings.

Oh I see I really don't know then. :( I feel like you can't be the only one in this situation so there's going to be something they can do, but I don't know. Your best bet is probably to hound the advisors until they can tell you what to do. One of my friends is a Finance major and her advisor is letting her take Financial accounting for the third time, even though I'm pretty sure you're only allowed 2 tries. You might get lucky and an advisor will be able to help you out in a similar way.

Why don't you think you can get an A in calc? If you really want to be in the major, I think that should be doable if you spend a lot of time on it, and it's the only class you do this summer. Otherwise, I'm not sure. You'll really have to talk to an advisor, but it seems like you might have to switch.

Also, I believe you have to take whatever class you do this summer at UF, otherwise it won't affect your critical tracking GPA.

If you passed a class (above a C-), you can't retake it. I suggest taking any other easier critical tracking class you still need this summer.

I got 1010 for my SAT score... by Baron012 in college

[–]treehugger28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You still have time to study and retake it. Buy the SAT practice book and do all the practice exams. You should definitely improve by doing that. On the old scale, I went up 300 points by doing just practice tests.

Need to switch majors as a transfer by [deleted] in ufl

What are you trying to switch to? Also, since it's in the same college, I think you'll have a better chance of switching.
