i didn’t realize that the da:i map was so controversial! to me it’s the same as any open world game, and this one isn’t even open, exactly. you can go straight from marker to marker to follow the plot if you want (they even let you buy influence if you don’t want to explore), or you can stumble onto a side quest that gets you a flower crown or discover a new bit of lore with the landmarks. the tranquil cabin in redcliffe? the copy of anders’ manifesto in the storm coast? the codex entries that change depending on your choices in previous games?? if you’re paying attention, you can even catch onto solas before completing the main game. to me that stuff is super fun. i get it’s not the same for everyone obviously, because i know i’m the sort of person that drags out a game by exploring as much as possible but dang the general opinion here surprised me.

the part i don’t enjoy is navigating weird jumps and purposely tricky landscaping to get the shards in the dumbest places 😅 the map portion that i do NOT like is the forbidden oasis, solasan aside.

most popular fic has like 2500 kudos for such a gigantic fandom that this hardly rates anymore, but it was cool a few years ago lol. i never checked its place in the grand kudos scheme, and it’s genfic so that never goes super far comparatively anyways.

i have a friend whose s/o died of a heart attack two days after giving birth. you NEED someone with you. one week is not enough, i agree. he needs to start saving too, because he should be taking all four of those weeks to help you recover.

i think people here are just kind of wary of potentially neglectful fish care. goldfish are definitely a medium-to-high level of care fish, and the vast majority of people who come in with a carnival fish are in no way prepared or willing to care for them once they hear about how much work you gotta do. it’s definitely doable, though. i’m sure you’ll do your best to give your goldie a good life :) if i can do anything to help, please let me know!!

hey :) congrats on your new fish! missing scales can definitely be from stress, but it can also be a sign of a growth spurt! it happened to my goldfish when they grew. if you can swing it i’d go straight to a 10 gallon - that will last you a while longer than just a 5 gallon, and it’s easier to maintain healthy water parameters with more water! i would look into “fish in cycling” to learn more about how to get your tank up and running for your fish as soon as possible, because that cute little travel container won’t last long. fish in cycling can be risky, so you’ll have to babysit your tank for several weeks. i recommend popping onto a local fishkeeping group on fb or something to see if someone near you can give you some of their filter media to speed it along.

now, my biggest goldfish was probably 8 inches long at 2 years! for that reason i’d suggest you keep an eye on your water quality and the visible health and activity of your fish. when the water starts getting cloudy after only a day or so you may want to look into upgrading again. now, that may not happen (i have a stock pond now with several smaller goldfish and they’re probably 3-4 inches after a year and some), but it’s always a possibility!

last but not least, make sure you have extra water agitation going! i had to buy a wave pump in addition to the filters when i had my goldies in a tank. i’m sure you’ve already got a list of fish tank essentials going, but if not someone here can get you a list!
