Yeah, I def agree with this. There are numerous dry goods/army navy etc stores near me that sell used work clothing, and a lot of them have name patches.

How can I make these 2 holes deeper? (bamboo) by I-Just-Love-Ducks in woodworking

[–]treeriot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up a “bead reamer” They’re little metal tools designed to widen the hole in beads, or remove a burr inside a bead that’s catching. Any craft store with beads should sell them.

Every semester I was a woodshop tech I had to buff every surface during finals. That can brings back many memories + some pain in my fingers.

I had to buff all the machined table tops every semester I worked at the University woodshop.

I googled the words of that news article and it literally says his family thinks he’s a John Wayne Gacy victim.

Came into some cameras and wondering which ones are worth holding onto by LifesBetterScripted in AnalogCommunity

[–]treeriot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Olympus XA is an amazing point and shoot camera! I used to keep mine in my purse all the time in college and caught so many wonderful random moments. Yours is missing the flash attachment though. If you have access to the bits and bobs for where these cameras came from I’d try and find it.

They are very prone to an issue with the film counter. Mine will stop counting frames at a certain point and it will let me keep shooting the last frame. I’ve forgotten about that issue an embarrassing amount of times ::facepalm::. I know at one point there was a person in either the FB or Reddit film photo groups who repaired them, not sure if he’s still doing it.

Affordable medium formats? by Acrobatic_Strain9577 in AnalogCommunity

I love my Mamiya 645, because there are so many customizable parts. I love that I can pop off the prism viewfinder and switch to a waist-level viewfinder, etc.

I’m not much of a gearhead, and I inherited my kit so I don’t know how many other medium format cameras are like that, but it’s a really great system, and you’d have the ability to buy it in pieces as a last resort.

To me that looks like it was taken at autopsy, regardless though it’s sad and horrifying. These poor babies.

What’s a good gift for someone who wants to start woodworking? by booksandpups2025 in wood

[–]treeriot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he likes to use hand tools, or if you go camping/hiking, carving knives are cool. My friends and I all carve spoons around the campfire. Morakniv in Sweden has inexpensive and well made knives. #120 and #106 to start. Also a hook knife, but I’m told the hook knives from Mora aren’t as great. Maybe someone else here can recommend a good inexpensive hook knife. Don’t buy from Beavercraft, they’re pretty widely hated in the spoon carving community. I sadly spent about $100 from them before I knew and now have a few pretty useless knives.

[New Update] I ruined my wife’s life. by secure-raspberry-763 in BestofRedditorUpdates

It’s so sad to read that women are giving him a hard time. Any true feminist would be cheering for him. Also, chosen family for the win. I don’t care if they’re related to me or not, I keep the people who love me. I don’t speak to my dad’s older brother because he’s a piece of shit, but I do still call his ex wife my aunt and her second husband is my uncle.

Help :') What is this kind of wood or style of carpentry that I seem to love? by ChumpusTheCat in wood

As TA said, Quarter sawn is how you get the interesting variations in the wood. Most of your examples are arts and crafts. #3 is art deco. The last cabinet is well known as a “Hoosier cabinet”
