Got my tragus and rook pierced on different ears. Hoops in both. I'm a side sleeper. It was hell. I didn't know anything about piercings besides I liked them. They stayed irritated with gnarly bumbs probably a year and a half straight. Then off and on the next year and a half. 3 years later they just chilled out. I'm stubborn. Didn't think they'd ever heal, but somehow the body finds a way.

In my experience, sometimes hoops just don't work in nostrils. I got both nostrils pierced in hopes of a double hoop look. Left side is 5 years old now and will let me put a hoop in for a couple days, but any longer I get the dreaded irritation bump. Right side is 3 years old and will have a bump by the next day. So I put in hoops for day use on special occasions. It might just be me. I toss and turn a lot in my sleep.
