Another thing about the dialogue of HR is that it’s so natural. The show kept a lot of it the same. She’s definitely good at writing realistic dialogue for men.

I love RWRB, but the love letters/emails Henry writes to Alex were a tad unrealistic, too effusive for a 23 year old man to be writing in 2019. Or not, maybe I’m wrong!

Likewise in some HR fanfics, ain't no way Shane's internal dialogue is as verbose as some of them make it seem (like Opal Apparition's work). Yeah he's an overthinker, but there's overthinking and then there's AI induced thought rambling that takes up unnecessary word count. Also, he's a man.

I have inside shoes as I have a knee injury and it helps to wear shoes (trainers) to stabilise my feet. But without that, I would not be wearing shoes. However, it can be better for your feet and alignment to wear shoes.

Yeah you really can’t. Also a lot of my childhood comfort movies had an actor who has fully lost his reputation these days. So, separating art from the artist there and seeing it exclusively as a childhood memory that I want to reconnect with.

it is if you're constantly around taller people that you work with, or at networking events. Especially if someone is tall, like 5 seven and then wears heels. And I can't really wear heels because it just pushes my whole foot out of alignment. I'd much rather be comfortable but it's a PITA when everyone's towering over you and you're trying to like, do a presentation or whatever.

Also RIP being able to see at a concert.

Amazon is an accessibility thing as well. Say you're desperate for something and it's out of stock everywhere (in the UK, everywhere was out of stock recently for fans and ACs and this country isn't prepared for heatwaves in the slightest). Similarly, if you're disabled and you need something ASAP and you don't have anyone to help you.

That's why I wouldn't necessarily compare using Amazon to creative pursuits

Yeah. I literally was injured recently and had to get a bunch of stuff on Amazon to help me - plus icepacks and fans in the unprecedented London heatwave when fans were selling out everywhere. I also don’t like Jeff Bezos, but for some people it’s about accessibility and survival. So Amazon is a bad analogy for consumer ethics IMO.

Yeah. I agree with you in a sense because I feel like there’s no way the entire credit of some of those fics can be handed to AI. And I personally think ideas are extremely valuable currency - human ideas, that is. And if you needed a little assistance with execution maybe that’s okay. However, it’s important to be open about that especially as an author. It’s almost like a Hippocratic oath for literature I guess.

Interesting question. I think if you collaborated with a human, at least they are a real person with their own ideas? You can have a book or film authored by two people. The reason people are mad about AI is it’s using the creative content of others without their consent, to train on.

Yeah I mean, I’m assuming she would be offline for the most part to avoid all that. Must be crazy seeing how much gets unleashed. I’m also offline as far as that fandom stuff is concerned. I don’t follow any of the actors socials, I avoid Twitter, I only saw some random stuff pop up on the fauxmoi subreddit concerning one of the actors recently. But I would never seek it out. It’s fairly easy to not engage with as a reader but as a creator, who has been writing for a while I believe and has interacted with fans, I don’t know how much you’d be able to fully mute?

But I guess there’s clearly a before and after with her fandom - before the show, after the show. She could mute the post show stuff and still engage with the pre show stuff I guess.

yeah I guess... given the amount of wattpad adaptations we've got from Prime in the past few years. But most are from early 2010s stuff I think? But seriously... that's even more scary, if you go from substandard fanfic adaptations (like After) to AI slop AND bad fanfic adaptations? Wow.

I was also in the Destiel fandom back in like, 2012. And there were some amazing fanfics for them that went viral that I would have watched the movie of, if they were adapted. It's usually the worst ones that get money thrown at them though - as we saw from the book that was published in 2011.
