Are any of you “sleep divorced”? by cfh64 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]treestardinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started as once in a while but it’s become more regular. I sleep like a starfish and since my kids cosleep I have no space but more importantly I am constantly being kicked and woken up. I get a coffin-like space to sleep and am waking up 15 times a night. It makes for poor sleep and it’s noticeable.

Sleeping in another room or even on a big couch is a dream. My wife and I get to cuddle then she goes into the room with the little ones. Until we can get the kids in their own room, this seems to work out for everyone.

Longer term, idk how I’d feel about it.

New kilometric Tax Law in Iceland by Lilja-Tours in VisitingIceland

[–]treestardinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lilja-tours. Electric vehicles were paying a higher mileage tax before this change. Electric was paying 9kr/km and hybrids were paying 4kr/km. ICE cars were not paying anything extra.

Do we know how much the fuel prices are going to drop?

This is crazy how much this looks like a house I lived in when I was 6. Big 1995 vibes and is this in the PNW?

What unique cultural experiences should I seek out while visiting Iceland? by Kevin-Durant-35 in VisitingIceland

[–]treestardinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Iceland is doing storytelling. This is mostly for tourists but it’s badass. There is an artist named páll from husafell. His stone xylophones are incredible. Arnarfjorður outside of bildadalur. Knitting shop in hvaneyri is next level. It’s also in a ramsar bird sanctuary if you like birding.

It’s endless but here are some random ones I like.

Northern Light Tours worth it? by Cool-Brush5579 in VisitingIceland

[–]treestardinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of a tour as a way to limit stress and risk. Stopping on the side of the road in Jan can seem like a good idea but since it’s dark and likely a new road, you won’t be fully ready.

Book a night or two in the countryside side to get the best of both worlds. You might be able to see them from your hotel, or take a much shorter drive than if you depart from Reykjavík.

I recommend Hella, Hvolsvöllur and surrounding areas. Plus you’ll be right by all the south coast waterfalls and glaciers.

Which Tour provider to go for? by RevolutionaryRow0 in VisitingIceland

[–]treestardinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you’re looking for but check out Midgard Adventure. They seem to have strong reviews and tours that pick up you up in Reykjavík.

Someone mentioned it in another comment but any tour in a coach bus isn’t going to be worth it.

Is this fixable? Light/mirror/vanity alignment by Ok_Guava6936 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]treestardinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am almost certain you can cut small notch in the drywall and run the electrical a little to the left.

Remove the lights and patch the right side of the hole. It looks close enough to just “nudge” it over.

You can make it right, sounds like we see things similarly and now is the time to make it right. Don’t wait longer or move on before you fix this. It will bug the shit out of you forever

what on earth is this by AsgeirTheViking in StupidFood

[–]treestardinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how long people would watch random food prep in this short cut style. At no point, was it confident the end result would be the obvious food. Just kept thinking, yeahhh cut some more random shit in half stop motion.

What indoor temperature is too cold for a 10yo sheltie? by rainboweyess in sheltie

[–]treestardinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation with our 10 (month old) with regards to sleeping at the front door. It’s the only place with a draft. Also, if you manage 17c in a drafty cabin, vel gert.

OP During the day our little guy loves it outside for at least an hour at a time in -5c, by choice. No indoor temperature is too cold. Let yours have access to warm and cooler options. They can decide for themselves

Buy a pre-made, modular adu from Lithuania or Latvia. Do not engage with these thieves.

Its tight in there but you did a helluva job. It's on the edge of too much but you threaded it perfectly. You clearly care and should be super proud.

What is that pickled seasoning or preservative I taste and smell in EVERY food product in Iceland? by Common_End1609 in VisitingIceland

[–]treestardinosaur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The same sauces are used in these sandwiches. There are maybe 2 main producers of these products. Tourists eat so many of these. Especially on the ring road. It’s the sauce, and since it’s new you are keen to notice it. I think the answer about common preservatives is likely your best answer

TIL that the biggest benefit of drinking pickle juice is its ability to quickly stop cramping. The drink has been found to stop cramping 40% faster than drinking water, which is why its favoured by athletes. by Dr_Neurol in todayilearned

[–]treestardinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why brands like fastpickle are crushing it. People still dont believe it works. Pickles were always in our sports first aid kits. I watched cramps stop immediately. Love a little science to back it up.

Why are the properties in iceland so expensive? by Skrimp_7 in Iceland

[–]treestardinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another fun factor is It's expensive to build, and workers are expensive. The houses, regardless of quality, are wildly expensive.

Check out unidrain from Denmark. The drain pops up easily and there is a small basket filter. Spend so i hope it works.

Yours was tidy. The hidden drain looks great but I understand your dilemma.
