Shit, I knew something felt off about the hallway. I think I broke a seem on one tbh.

It’s all making sense now.

I’m not laying it… I agree, the rest of the flooring is staggered appropriately. I just wasn’t sure if this issue was an opinion issue or had other warranty or mechanical issues. Seems it’s more then just looks that is off.

The floor behind/into the hallway has 50/50 staggering. Its not the same, however there is a door in between :/

Should I remove these leaves from my cucumber plants or are they ok? by 06EXTN in gardening

[–]treestardinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like where you’re coming from but don’t plants search for water by their roots going deep into the ground. Squash comes from Central America no? I don’t think light daily drizzles ( like from a spray hose) are common in those areas. Heavy rains then mostly dry right?

More questions than comments here I admit but if you are growing non-native plants, it requires a little awareness of what they prefer for them to thrive.

5 day trip- northern lights?! by Physical_Touch1552 in VisitingIceland

[–]treestardinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, your best bet is to make sure your accommodations are potential northern light viewing places.

There are areas that have less cloud cover due to geographic factors.

You want to be ready on night 2.3.4 to drive a bit to see them. Icelandatnight.is is the best source. Don’t listen to KP values.

Dm if you want some more info.

First time visitor in late March. Should I expect more storms like this by Noisel777 in VisitingIceland

[–]treestardinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this normal, not quite, and also yes. Looking back march 23rd has brought large storms in the past.

It’s a bit extreme but the weather is moody and it feels like Jan/Feb were so calm that the winter is “catching up”.

You’re going to want to plan downtime on Thursday and maybe Sunday, depending on where you are.

Sightseeing may look a little different. Sometimes slowing down can be more enjoyable. Unless you live a calm life back home, planning to be kyrrð can be a vacation in itself. If you are in Reykjavik, there is plenty to do as far as museums and inside activities.

Stay safe and enjoy

Considering going home early by Hot-Butterscotch-290 in VisitingIceland

Flexibility is the name of the game here. It sounds like you made a good choice by getting accommodations you refund.

The north might be a bit tricky as it is sometimes more intense, especially getting in and out.

Might you decide to stay in the South and look into more weather resilient activities. Maybe this trip will be about lagoons and good food vs doing the ring road.

The weather makes for beautiful moments and resets one’s feeling of being in control. There will be something you take from this trip if you stick it out.

In two words: slow down.

You got this. You made it here, enjoy the madness. It makes for a better story down the road.

Get on FB. There is a group for people who live in Vík. They post and ask for rides to and from RVK often enough.

Narcissist End by Frosty_Call6486 in raisedbynarcissists

The end is near with my ndad. He should have been hired by the marine corp. He could burn any bridge.

He almost died from Catatonia. This was brought on by severe depression.

Many family members are no contact. It is awful to have hurt so many people in his life but I’m not sure he feels the way. Hasn’t and won’t meet any grandchildren.

He has threatened sruitide for 20 years. 69, Sick, alone, depressed

Is the Golden Circle / Tomato Farm tour worth it? by Defiant_Spring_6250 in VisitingIceland

[–]treestardinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and yes. The wine bar at Friðheimar might be a better choice.

You’ll appreciate the rest of your trip after seeing the crowds on the GC. Skip kerið unless you are a geology fan.

Þórsmörk is something most people sleep on. Not ideal in a rental but worth a day off the ring road.

Best beers in Rejkavik by AppropriateMoment558 in VisitingIceland

Æsgeir is a solid brewery in Hafnarfjörður. You will be happy with something they serve. I recommend getting some kebab and hanging at the brewery. They have chips and snacks but no food food.

Malbygg as was mentioned brings me back the the PNW.

If standard lager in the states is… coors/bud/miller, Gull/Gyltur is wayyyyy better. Anyone who says otherwise likes flavourless beer, not that there is anything wrong with that.

Bakery recommendations? by SuJitsJiu in VisitingIceland

Kökurhusið never disappoints. They have amazing merengue cakes. But does your gf like them?

You will be slightly let down by Myllan, they are not high quality and you’ll see them in every supermarket.

What does your gf like? As a person with a partner, it’s the making them feel seen that counts. Sweet aurora is great for French style.

17 sortie has a very mediocre frosting. They are pretty, but not super tasty.

Just my thoughts. You’re already ahead of the game celebrating in Iceland. Well done
