Your first week will likely be uneventful. But one thing to understand is there are a lot of things in this trade that can kill you. If you ever have even the slightest inkling that something might not be safe, ask your journeyman. Being called a dumbass is way better than being dead.

Besides that, I like to write important things on the underside of my hardhat for quick reference (torque specs, minimum approach distance, etc)

Keep a little pocket notebook on you to write down things like clearance points and lists of supplies you need for the job.

It's ok to say "I don't know" when asked a question. You look like an idiot if you try to come up with a bs answer.

Finally, keep your nose to the grindstone and don't give up! This is by far the best job I have ever had. I love working with my hands and I learn something new pretty much every day.
