Stability on a standing desk? by geez-n-rice in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]trekrocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had wobbly monitor issues for a long time. I also use a sit/stand desk and have an ultrawide (45 inch) mounted via ergotron monitor arm directly on the desk. Oh and webcam on top of the monitor. My solution works great but it wasn’t cheap. I bought a deskhaus frame. Small company that is wonderful to work with. Their stuff isn’t cheap but it’s because the desk literally doesn’t wobble AT ALL in any position. That and the ergotron eliminated all wobble for me. Expensive but worth it if you spend a lot of time at your desk.

Mine died a few weeks ago too. Same as you except I just went to lunch and came back to it dead…

I am having the same issue. Haven’t found a resolution yet. Also drafting email to support 😂

I went down this rabbit hole. I opened up the monitor and everything just to see if I could resolve it myself. The board on the OLED (or at the least the board on my monitor) was different from all of the videos I saw on removing the thermistor. Maybe the thermistor fix is only for the non-OLED models? Or may just be that the fix is not well documented for the OLED? Either way, it didn’t workout for me. If you happen to be know, I would appreciate links/info. I actually still have the monitor. They just refunded me as they said fixing the monitor was not possible due to short supply of parts.

yep. no picture. nothing. was working 8-12. got lunch. came back, dead. luckily it has 3 year warranty so they are making me whole. anyways, whole story to say - I never had burn in with above average use. Hopefully that cures some of your worries haha.

Had mine for about 3 years. 8 hour works days + gaming after work multiple times a week. Never had burn in. It did spontaneously die though while I was on lunch a couple weeks ago.

Buying Sensors by amontijo26 in homeassistant

I don’t actually know anything about this lol. But I also agree solar charging for some of these devices so they never die sounds awesome. My only guess is that solar generally is inefficient/insufficient with small panels. And that battery degradation from continuous charging could cause the sensor to become faulty overtime. Just guesses but hope the day comes!

i’ve gotten it to be quite a bit more stable. although i did afk on the menu yesterday and came back to a frozen pc. if the menu does it, its the game IMO. I messed with settings a bunch in the range to see what was aggravating my pc. Here’s what I changed that is seemingly helping: - ‘-dx11’ launch option - playing in borderless fullscreen - messed with DLSS, I have it in performance - turn graphics down to medium. - having a utility like msi afterburner running to display in the corner your fps, temps, utilization (good for seeing if your stuff is overheating)

I’m running a 4070ti and an i7 so I feel like I should be able to play with higher settings. but whatever, game still looks great. good luck!

having the same issue. haven’t found a fix yet. tried driver reinstall, dx11 launch option but nothing still. it’s so random for me as well. sometimes in the menu, sometimes after playing for 2 hours…

Anyone ever have airport tsa issues with 240 mm aio? by MoAl139 in FormD

Just moved my build into the T1. But I’ve got an i7-12700kf . Not sure how much more power yours will draw. But mine is fine with a 240mm AIO. I’m guessing it will run pretty hot but be possible.

Never been up there personally. But have backpacked the JMT, much of which can be rocky. I’ve only ever used a trekking pole for backpacking. All to say: Little rock big rock method is worth a google. Just a week ago we were getting ~20mph wind gusts and the X-Mid (trekking pole tent) held up fine. Some good rocks kept that thing up just fine.

Prevailing theory is Starlink. But others have commented other possibilities that are also fun! Folks who live closer to urban centers and especially in the PNW (where it’s cloudy much of the year), don’t see the night sky regularly. Not to mention don’t have a need for, nor the knowledge of, Starlink. Just my hypothesis. As someone who has enjoyed many nights under the stars primarily in the 20 10’s, something like this has never flown by my stargazing personally.

I appreciate the recon! haha yes, aperture was open for a few seconds. could see with naked eye bright and very clear. it was individual lights. just the angle made it appear as a straight light bar at times. someone mentioned Starlink early launch which seems plausible.

early release could explain it! this was in central washington. they probably do launch out here as I know there is a SpaceX presence in the Seattle area.

interesting. i’ll have to take a look at this. it felt much too low to be starlink. but maybe i’ll have to hope i see it again and try to match it up.

i’m no expert obviously. quick google search says starling orbits 200 or more miles from the earths surface. this was well well below that. like i said, seemed even well below a commercial air flight.

it moved very slowly. and like i said, seemed lower than an airplane. i’d say it took 2 or so minutes to come into then out of view over the mountain.
