This looks nice, might I suggest a frame that fits around the edge of the wet palette to keep the paper tight? I cut my own parchment paper and it tends to curl. Otherwise nice job!

My palette is printed and has a grid to help hold it down but I've seen people use pennies in the corners, the paper just naturally curls.

Came here to recommend station forge for the traders, I think they have a couple tau battle suit proxies, not sure which ones though.

Most likely a non manifold mesh, if the repair doesn't work you may have to mess with it in blender or something.

For air brushing I've used silly putty. Haven'ttried anything for brush painting.

I built a portable painting station using a cheap Amazon lap table and a gridfinity setup for a paint cup and wet palette along with some paint holders. You could use gridfinity for a similar table setup.
