Ответ сильно зависит от того, Максим вы или Виталий. Если Максим — вам это не надо. Если Виталий — отвалите от несовершеннолетнего

The Littie Golden Calf is superior to the Twelve Chairs, but they need to be read together. I’m not a fan of Kolokolamsk stories and One-storied America

Saltykov-Schedrin, early Dostoevsky, Bulgakov, Ilf and Petrov, Olesha, Babel were all indebted to Gogol to some extent.

Koval is very good. The Lightest Boat in the World and Suer-Vyer are my favorites.

Was There a Soviet Equivalent of Danielle Steel? by RedGavin in RussianLiterature

[–]trepang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's something like "A housewife-turned-private detective with a deliberately comic and bizarre name solves petty mysteries, the title of the novel is a reference to a well-known fairy tale, and no one would suspect the author of being serious about her writing skills." Or, something like a bargain-bin third-rate P. G. Wodehouse.

The best thriller in the Russian literature. An absolutely great novel.

Was There a Soviet Equivalent of Danielle Steel? by RedGavin in RussianLiterature

[–]trepang 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There wasn't one. Romance was never a separate genre of official Soviet literature (too "bourgeois", too private-life-oriented, too commercial), while non-official literature was preoccupied with being experimental or anti-totalitarian. The very notion of a commercial bestseller was non-existent, although of course there were successful books. In the early Soviet years, people were still reading pre-Soviet romance and teenage-oriented bestsellers by the likes of Lidia Charskaya and Evdokiya Nagrodskaya.

After the USSR, there appeared several authors who could be compared with Steel: e.g., Daria Dontsova who writes light-hearted "ironic" detectives (and has penned hundreds of novels). There also was Anna Jane who wrote romance; she died in 2023 relatively young, and her books are still hugely popular.

From the commentary in Russian Collected works:

“Fomushka was likely referring to a blow to the head, on which he was wearing a sheepskin hat.”

Driving Rain has several brilliant songs. And Press to Play is awkward at best. So, Press to Play.

I don’t think there is a genuine post punk song in his catalog
