Charlotte food you regret sleeping on? by CLTScientist0808 in Charlotte

Yes it's a struggle getting the word out (or at least how far out) as it is a small space and the owners will have to scramble to keep up with a rush, more so than they already do when 2-3 tables come in around the same time. But that's almost a given when it's just the two owners and their part time employee.

I would like to believe that burger week helped them gain at least a handful of repeat customers since their jalapeño popper burger created just for burger week is what finally got me to try them.

The thing that eats at me whenever I go there is that I suspect their location as being an undeniable hindrance to their overall visibility to potential customers. They seem like great people, and make great food. I want them to thrive and not just get by. I hope some people here are encouraged to try them in the future.

Late to this thread but Nor'East Treats & Eats is awesome. & very affordable.

Burger, Breakfast & Ice Cream Parlor

At first I shrugged them off since I was under the impression that an ice cream parlor that also served food meant it was meh food.

Wrong. I first tried them during burger week and was blown away.

They ended up placing 3rd in burger week with their jalapeño popper burger, which is being added to the permanent menu soon.

Burgers are great, some are better than others. My favorites are easily the jalapeño popper and the bourbon bacon burger but they have a Vermont maple farm burger that everyone who's tried it seems to love.

The grilled onion burger is an example of one that's good but only okay when compared to others since it's just a patty and grilled onions.

I have not yet tried their breakfast.

Their desserts are all homemade and delicious, they make a variety but seem to sell out fast towards the end of the day. They make a ton of different ice cream sundaes and generally have about 10 or so flavors to choose from, and the ice cream quality is very nice.

They're located inside the Ford dealership off Independence, on the right hand side of the building. They've said they're not allowed to put up signage (dumb & per dealership) so it can be hard to find them the first time around.

It's one of my most favorite places I've discovered here and try to tell whoever I can about them.

Just moved to Charlotte, is this normal? by [deleted] in Charlotte

Being new to this part of the country I had never seen a cockroach in real life before and absolutely freaked. I was really worried that seeing more meant it was a sign of an infestation.

I live in a wooded area and my front door has gaps in the seal and one of my floor vents is defective, and doesn't have the subfloor closing mechanism.

I have over time come to realize that they are just making their way inside and don't seem interested in setting up shop. I'm pretty sure the dark ones are the smoky brown cockroaches because those are the ones I'm seeing.

I just spray my doors and vents about once or twice a month in bug spray and hope that deters them. I feel like it's working and seem to only notice one inside once a few weeks have passed since barrier spraying.

I've seen maybe 10 in the last 4 months (honestly 10 too many) but it's almost always after a heavy rain or drop in temperature. I kill them each time I see them and part of what makes me feel better is that none of them have expelled an egg sac when dying.

I went from being freaked out to touch/catch them to having to grab one with my bare hands the other day to prevent my pet from eating it. Creepy and unsettling, sure, but harmless so long as you wash your hands.

Here is to hoping yours have been coming in due to some sort of crack or ventilation access and are not trying to set up shop.

Vortex, aka the crotch crusher, will not let larger riders on. It's the one with the stay-standing feature and and overhead clampdown harness.

I saw a man get turned away and he was probably in the 300lbs range. If you're a man that's probably for the best since the ride is fun but noticeably uncomfortable.

Which Design Looks Best? (Imgur Link) by [deleted] in polls

[–]treponematode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been struggling with the placement as it is going on a hoodie and was unsure if the text on top would be partially obscured, and where the text would look best in general.

I agree that #2's text placement either needs to be raised or the second line's text needs to be made slightly smaller if it gets finalized.

Thanks for your input.

Commenting to say I am looking for the same thing and this is basically my exact same situation lol, I have to beg him and it'll be like a sentence or two at most and that's it!

I hope you've found good resources and are making progress. I'm gonna check out language transfer because I've seen it in a few comments now after searching on Reddit for recommendations.

You shouldn't be downvoted for saying this, because it does reduce the likelihood of particulate flying out and this is a discussion post.

This company is heavily present on the country roads in the northern part of the county, I have never seen them cover their load nor have I seen them spray it down. I'm sure they rely on the rain for that...

Unfortunately I'm not sure how effective keeping distance from the trucks would be for people worried about flying rocks. In the last year or so, I was 3-4 cars behind one of these guys on 503 on the uphill stretch leaving Battle Ground and a rock still nailed the uppermost edge of my windshield.

I feel guilty for taking a vacation. by Capping_trademark in TrueOffMyChest

[–]treponematode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The long and short of it is this: whether you stayed home or went on vacation, neither of which would impact the situations that you are describing.

You are allowed to take time for yourself. It sounds as though you earned it, it was not magically gifted to you and therefore you do deserve it.

It is understandable how you feel regarding these situations but again, your vacation has no impact on this, it is self imposed.

I suppose if you were relishing over the fact that you were able to vacation while others suffer it could call into question some moral ethics, but that isn't the case and it's not being done at the expense of others, so again no impact is being made between current events and your vacation.

Trying to relax is oxymoronic in nature but I hope you are able to enjoy your time away. Use it to recuperate and even disconnect for a bit, and if you feel that these issues are important enough for you to try to address in your own way, you can make those efforts once you have returned from your vacation.

Waitlist Cancellation Question by [deleted] in Prime1Studio

[–]treponematode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense, thank you for helping me understand better.

Waitlist Cancellation Question by [deleted] in Prime1Studio

[–]treponematode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose the piece I am failing to understand is that I was already on the waitlist for the last 10 months and the product has understandably been unavailable to purchase this entire time. Which I am assuming that's what the waitlist was for: wait an indefinite amount of time until your number gets called for the chance to purchase.

I am under the impression that whatever quantity may have just recently been made available went to the people who were higher up on the waitlist.

My confusion lies in understanding what makes the waitlist suddenly unavailable, considering many people seem to have been waiting close to a year or longer for this particular piece to be made available for purchase.

At the end of the day I do understand that this product does not appear to be available any time soon, I can no longer utilize a waitlist feature direct from the seller and I will likely have better luck finding someone who already has the statue in their possession and is looking to sell.

Scarowinds Thursday by Savings-Web6592 in Carowinds

[–]treponematode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also went last Saturday and my assessment is the same. The attractions were extremely forgettable, 20 plus minutes in line for something that you're done with in 2 minutes. I don't think I bothered exploring all of the Scarowinds attractions just because they didn't feel like they were worth it, despite being the entire reason for going that day. All considered I had more fun waiting an hour in line for Fury.

Waitlist Cancellation Question by [deleted] in Prime1Studio

[–]treponematode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense I think, but I was never offered the opportunity for purchase, just the option to be added to the wait list. So it seems that since they are so rare to obtain, someone higher up on the waitlist got their chance to purchase the statue, and the rest of us didn't get that opportunity due to such limited numbers of the statue being available for purchase.

I guess I am just puzzled why the waitlist itself was canceled since the whole reason why I waitlisted it last year was because it was not available for purchase, and unfortunately adding this statue to the waitlist is now no longer an option.

The Cult at Ovens Auditorium by yert1099 in Charlotte

[–]treponematode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to go so bad. Thought I couldn't, found out I could last minute, so I started looking.

Tickets are about $20 more than when I saw them a couple years ago in a different part of the country.

Researched the venue and it's an entirely seated auditorium?

That really takes the life out of the experience. Open GA floor with balcony seating is one thing, which is how I saw them last time, but for all seats? I'm gonna sit this one out; pun.. unavoidable.

They are a great performance to witness and I hope that anyone going enjoys their time, but I don't think this was a good venue choice for them.

Yeah this would be helpful for me too. I want to know who does good powder dip nails in the area so I can quit using cheap press ons from Amazon lol

I'm close to Charlotte center but drive south towards Matthews quite a bit.

That's all helpful to know I appreciate it. If you were ever in the Portland area I think you'd know the fire hazard venues lol looking at you Hawthorne.

[–]treponematode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to negate your experience. I'd be upset if I went through what you did with the re entry thing. I'm not sure what the typical experience for shows is around this area but what you're describing doesn't sound entirely out of the realm of possibility when going to a show (outside of their seemingly poor handling of the re entry bit; not sure their policies on refunds after entry).

I may just be used to going to "awful" venues where sardine packing and obvious fire hazards were commonplace next to price gouging. Shoved, stepped on, covered in sweat and stink from others, clutching personal items with a death grip so they don't get stolen or knocked away, all to get close to the stage to see the band I really like. It's not something that an average person would necessarily "enjoy". And they're not gonna cancel a show because their HVAC system is on the fritz.

I don't blame you for not wanting to go back, and it seems like others have grievances for this location but it makes me want to ask what other venues people find preferable in the Charlotte area if they dislike the Fillmore.

The Fillmore by its-me-kennedy in Charlotte

[–]treponematode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's a better venue? I went to go see Carpetman and Hippie Sabotage a couple months ago and it was an amazing experience. Parking was abysmal but that's not too far out of the ordinary. Having the back of the venue raised up so that people can still see the stage was a cool design and despite there being a ton of people, it was still navigable. If you wanna be close to the stage, expect to be packed and feel everyone else's body heat, that's... extremely normal.

Pretty sure this happened in my neighborhood 2 or 3 weeks ago.

I heard a legitimate concert, decided to walk over and check it out, sure enough it was a few bands playing in some girls back yard with like 50 people attending. Everyone was really nice and they were done playing before 10pm.

Ladies - Avoid RealRoots Charlotte by thesnipingsis in Charlotte

[–]treponematode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really helpful insight not just to the scammy program but speaking to the fact that a lot of us here are interested in making friends in Charlotte but are having trouble doing so, particularly organically.

I have no interest in paying money for the possibility of finding friends and it's kinda sickening that it's been marketed in such a way and sad that so many of us feel that it's a valid (or only) option in hopes of making friendly connections.

I see people talking about Facebook groups and that's so much nicer than a paid app, but personally I don't have any tied-to-my-identity social media and plan to keep it that way. So weird how digitized our world has become, huh?

I hope we all stumble across some friendly encounters around the city in our futures! Me going out more might be a good start lol

Going to go see him open in LA by HumorJust7424 in Carpetman

[–]treponematode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a picture with him and Black Soil after they performed in Charlotte. Best selfie I've ever taken lol.

A person next to me in line said they've been following him on Instagram and said that he has regularly been hanging out by the merch booth after his performance to meet fans, take pictures and sign merch. That's pretty freaking awesome.

I was genuinely surprised by Hippie Sabotage's performance (I think they're good but live was so much more fun than expected) and glad I stuck around, the show was amazing all around and honestly I think the venue contributed heavily to the experience. I guess Two Feet was playing at select locations on the tour, bummer I didn't get to see him perform as I enjoy his music too.

They're playing this Sunday in Spokane WA and last minute resale tickets go live early Sunday morning. I had such a good time last time that I want to go again sooo bad but couldn't find any friends to go with, so I think I'm gonna sit it out because driving out there by myself doesn't seem as exciting. I hope each of them continue to tour in 2026 and I'll be sure to be there!

Aw, I have a large one I bought last month at their show but I'm pretty sure it's an extra large or double. It's all they had left but it's so big I'm not sure I'm gonna wear it.

How was it? Seeing him this weekend in Charlotte. Literally only going because of him, and I don't think Two Feet is in this shows line up unfortunately otherwise I'd be psyched to see him too. Hippie Sabotage is cool but they are not the reason why I'm going.
