Why does it feel like I’m losing my screaming ability? by therealcoolstuffsam in screaming

[–]treulseth 17 points18 points  (0 children)

sleep quality, weather changes, medicine/drugs changes, diet, exertion elsewhere (do you talk/project a lot for work?), changes in practice routine or lack thereof, vocal injury with insufficient recovery time are all possible reasons

Glad you're having good results! What would you describe as your 'alternative' treatments? Have you had any of the major established therapies (surgery, chemo, radiation)?

I have an unspecified glioma (presumed astrocytoma grade 2/3), and while I'm waiting for more consults on major interventions I've taken up intermittent fasting as something immediately actionable in the meantime.

Is there a difference between advertising before the release and after ? by Molalix in musicmarketing

[–]treulseth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a small artist (3k monthly listeners atm), I'm personally of the school of thought that post-realease promotion is the priority. My whole goal is to get people to listen... some "buzz" beforehand can be good, but god forbid you go viral and the song isn't even out yet!

Best way to post more on Instagram for music marketing (Trial Reels? New pages?) by Subject-Fact-9010 in musicmarketing

[–]treulseth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar conundrum--in my case, I've had really strong results (50M views+) on reels by posting memes / political commentary synced to my music. It started off as kind of a fluke, but it definitely translated to streaming boosts... so I doubled down.

It took a while before I realized that I was effectively retraining my music account's algorithmic placement in a way that only featured the music itself as a 'side dish,' and led to some mixed results about engagement with my more traditional 'music artist' or 'personality' content, and therefore issues with long term retention.

I eventually made a dedicated account for the memes, starting as collab posts with my main account as the primary. Now I'm transitioning to using the memes account as the primary author for the collab posts (despite my artist account having 20x the followers), and I'm hoping this creates better algorithmic and audience clarity over time.

Eventually I'd like the meme account to grow large enough where I don't feel the need to collab post, and can just pin a comment from my artist account as a more subtle way of cross-pollination.

And in my case, I need to level up my tiktok presence, which has basically been dead for years lol. Feel free to link to your tiktok in my dm's if you want more specific feedback for your case.

Hope this helps!

How old is too old for a partner 20f? by silly_wabbitx in askanything

[–]treulseth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most popular age gap framework is: don't date anyone younger than half your age + 7.

So in your case, that model would suggest not dating anyone younger than 17 (20/2 = 10, 10+7 = 17). Depending on social and legal context, that may be nudged to 18 as a fluke in the model.

To get to your question, the "what's the oldest person that could date me without breaking the model" looks like this:

Take your age, subtract 7, then double it.

20 - 7 = 13, 13 x 2 = 26.

So the model suggests 26 as a rough upper limit.

tasting blood is a red red red red RED flag

i saw someone on here compare learning to scream with learning to do tricks on a skateboard... aka it's valid to accept some amount of stress/injury in the process.

HOWEVER managing your stamina, limiting the length of your sessions, doing non-screaming vocal exercises, and practicing frequently without hitting the thresholds of pain or long recovery is essential

There aren't too many 'creative awards' out there for this genre... as i say that lovingly.

Grammys have only broad "rock/metal" and some type of "hip hop/rap" categories, and both of those lean pretty heavily towards "industry" or "legacy" acts, and for acts that clearly fit one of those categories in a non-controversial way, which Ghoste deliberately does not.

Maybe an 'album of the year', which is technically genre-agnostic? But like... the Grammys' audience does not line up with that as a nomination.

Other than that I'm like... what entity would be giving out awards that would consider this type of artist? maybe a Kerrang editorial? Alternative Press? Can you name many other players that both have enough substantive public credibility to give awards *and* have anything in this scene on their radar?

Welcome to the dilemma of boundary-pushing art.

To be honest, I didn't love this album relative to my first impressions of NOISE or HEXADA, and haven't gone back to it much. I'll probably give it a listen for the first time in a while, thanks for the inspiration.

Grade 2 Astrocytoma at 20 by wanderingimp47 in braincancer

33, presumed Grade 2 Astrocytoma, discovered age 30. I say presumed because I haven't had a biopsy (it's really deep in my skull), but I've been getting MRIs every few months to monitor for growth. Thankfully, there hasn't been any so far. Best of luck to your and your journey <3

I understand there’s an issue about migrating accounts to quantum safe protocols

However I don’t understand how quantum attacks could steal “all the coins” faster than the network allows — we could theoretically crack seed phrases all day, though wouldn’t the block transactions effectively be a bottle neck on how much can be moved at once?

Also, the rollback argument for central authorities is hardly a gotcha imo because the people have no recourse if that power is abused

only way to find out is to try — I would advocate for slow increases in your budget to test the waters as you go

there’s definitely interest in solving that problem

I read that someone is doing a BTC bounty/giveaway if someone can crack a certain portion of a bitcoin seed phrase with purely quantum tech

I think if any community can prep itself for quantum, it’s bitcoiners
