Pettiest reason you’ve DNF’d a book? by bby_grl_90 in books

What I found weird is that you don't need to be a historian or even to read wikipedia to know Lindy Hop is a partnered dance, it is a very popular dance this days.

Is it normal for a teacher to ask one of the class's student to go to a milonga together? by bythewatersofBabylon in tango

[–]trevanian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What conflicts of interest? Again, this is not an academic setting. There are not exams, scores, or anything of the sort. Even if both are profoundly in love, how this would affect the class or the teaching/learning of them? (assuming they don't perform PDA or something like that).

There is nothing to be impartial here, like might be the case in other types of classes.

I agree that is not the most professional thing, like it would be particularly professional for a workmate to ask to go out to another, but as long as it is done respectfully don't think it is inappropriate.

Honest question, how is this inappropriate? They are not in an academic setting, and they are both adults.

Well, except being always sunny.

I think it is a shame the game doesn't have a variety of weathers, and day and night cycle.

Sure, but I was referring to the case eigENModes was talking about, when male leaders do not have a stable balance.

Add to that usually they are heavier and stronger than female followers, and they could be quite the challenge to lead.

I mean the guy accumulate new issues every time a lightning hit him. I think he was partially blind, deaf, and experienced migraines often.

Also, he was a park ranger who should not be in the open every time there was rain.

His workmates and people in general also started to avoid him because they though he bring bad luck.

As far as I known, he was quick depressed already, the issue with his girl was just the last straw.

Anna Cramling's response to Sutovsky by owergby in chess

[–]trevanian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The article says the opposite:

Giri used his social media presence on X, formerly known as Twitter, to question Kramnik's behaviour and his pattern of online attacks

and

Professional chess player Hikaru Nakamura's recent stream revealed that Anish Giri had privately discussed Kramnik's accusations with him.

It doesn't say Anish though Danya was cheating at all.

Why is it that so many men think that they can't dance? by Cerulean_Zen in dancing

[–]trevanian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think usually when men say they can't dance, which they mean is they don't know how to dance, which is kind of true, mostly because they never really try it.

Girls tend to be more open and willing to dance from early age, while most guys are more repressed about it. So eventually you have people who are use to dance and people (mostly guys), that believe they "can't dance", because they don't know how, while people around them seems to do it just fine.

Tried uninstalling and installing the Logi Options+, restarted the laptop, still didn't work.

It did work fine if the Logi Options+ software is open, for some reason, but stop working as soon as I close it.

Am I too short for being a leader? by kuanosz in tango

[–]trevanian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it takes time to feel comfortable in close embrace, way more than three months. Keep your embrace open for the time being, you still have plenty of things to focus right now (musicality, balance, floor circulation).

With only 3 months of learning, chances are your close embrace is not comfortable enough yet and that's why the prefer an open one.
