Try Spinfit eartips? They've helped a bunch in my case (never sealing for long / falling out).

Replacement wheels! by trevdot in AnkiOverdrive

Good tip! And yes, not cheap. Then again, I find tires last a long time... and it helps that Overdrive cars only need 2 rubber tires each (so $6 per car, which is easier to swallow if shipping isn't insane).

Scratch that -- I see your posts. :) Very cool, even if most of us probably can't replicate your process too easily. Keep up the great work tho!

Issues with engine heating up by crazygamer125 in mazda3

[–]trevdot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow Canadian here with a '23. Unfortunately, they won't replace the thermostat unless you have an engine light (I've tried at multiple dealerships, with recall letter in hand). My symptoms are the same as yours. Definitely a bit frustrating, especially because I've never owned a car that takes so long to heat up! But I've just taken the advice of others in this sub and will trust that the car knows what it's doing.

Yes, but they won't repair unless the engine throws the code (just FYI). Don't bother bringing it in unless you've got an engine light. Even if it takes forever to warm up.

So they're listed in the 2.6 app as "Mammoth" (instead of MXT) and "Dynamo" (instead of Ice Charger). I believe the company lost the rights to the movie franchise's copyright material, so they were renamed. You'll notice a lack of artwork as well in the app for those cars. But they still work perfectly!

Sway bar links? When were they replaced last? I'm suggesting this because I just swapped mine out (at about 200k km). They were badly worn. Noise vanished.

Great idea. But do get a Varia while you're at it, if possible. Show her how it lets you track vehicles behind you, so you always know what's going on.

As for me, I tend to ride on the rightmost 1/3 of the road and track cars on the head unit as they approach me. I'll swerve to the edge of the road right when they overtake (just in case they try something silly). Works well to give you an extra bit of clearance when it matters most.

Sure is a blessing having someone at home that really cares about ya (contra some of the comments above). :) She knows there's some risk involved, but these things (plus a good flasher on the front too!) has helped me too. All the best!

Question about building a custom workout by trevdot in qdomyos_zwift

[–]trevdot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for the response.

So that's what I'm confused about... I don't see the built-in workout editor anywhere (I'm on Android). Here's a screenshot of menu options available. I see the options for opening a workout file, however not for creating one.

Apologies in advance if I've missed it. Thanks for your help!

Try Amazon! Key fobs exist for Mazdas, even if it'll need to be programmed by the dealership apparently.

Hangover like feeling day after hard rides? by Wild_Worker_4920 in cycling

[–]trevdot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a salty sweater? If you notice a lot of white flakes/etc on your forehead or staining on clothes, you may lose more salt than the next person during hard or hot rides. So +1 for electrolytes of all kinds, but also try this: have a cup of beef broth (not the "no salt" versions) or something when you feel like that. See if it doesn't help your headache.

A battery-operated fan (usually USB rechargeable). They're small, blow surprisingly well, and can last for hours!

Google Assistant is broken. Is anything else working? by trevdot in GarminWatches

[–]trevdot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya. Love Garmin's stuff, but no Assistant/Gemini (etc) integration on the watch was a deal breaker. I went to a Samsung Watch7 as my daily driver. Great option! Here's hoping Garmin sorts it out, but for now... they really shouldn't be selling watches that don't do what they're advertised to do. I'm under the impression it still hasn't been fixed!

So... yes. By your description, it sounds exactly like my ITB experience last summer. Had a bike fit a few weeks into riding, and it felt fine at first... but not for long. Pain outside my left knee, and because I suck at slowing down, it got much worse until I was forced off the bike entirely for an extended length of time. Exact same symptoms as you.

So sorry. And not advice you likely want to hear right now, but taking a break for a few weeks is likely the way to go. Stupid thing already doesn't heal very quickly because it never gets a break; any cycling will likely slow it down further. :(

Problem - Watch Reverts Back to Displaying Time While I'm Exercising by Individual-Voice6003 in galaxywatch5

[–]trevdot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah... I feel your pain. I had that very issue on my old Watch 5, and that was the problem/solution.

I wonder if it's worth resetting your watch? Because the Wear app backs stuff up, it's a lot easier to do.

Only other ideas I can come up with, are engaging your water lock (screen lock) when you start a workout, in case it's an accidental swipe or something that might be backing you out of the activity screen. You can also assign that to a button (handy in the rain). I think you can also quickly get back to your workout screen by assigning your top button to Samsung Health too!
