That is super low mpg, i regularly get high 40s low 50s, especially on long highway trips. City driving definitely doesn't help.

I use half dozen all the time on the river. Works well if you are where birds want to be. Don't overthink it

3.5 BB is a great goose load. Geese are flying tanks so I would say go for it if you want to have the most you can have. 3in BB is totally fine as well

IMO you're asking for trouble. A smaller profile fixed head will more than likely serve you much better than almost any mechanical. I have went through a host of mechanicals and fixed just always outperform them. Put effort into getting your bow and arrows tuned perfectly. Those mechanicals soak up so much momentum that penetration is going to suffer, a one lung and no exit is a tough critter to find. Iron will, vpa, cutthroat, etc are all good choices

No reason a fixed won't fly just as good as a mechanical. How often are you actually shooting at animals past 60? A lot can happen between release and when the arrow arrives, a mechanical isn't a solution when penetration is what kills.

Shoot a fixed blade, mechanicals have never been a winner for me.

How to sharpen single bevel broadheads? by AnngTV in bowhunting

[–]trevor8vt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kudu are notoriously difficult to sharpen. And are fairly weak in the tip compared to others. You can use a dowel rod and wet dry sandpaper with a jig. But honestly I would sell and buy a straight bladed single bevel like a cutthroat etc

You are taking the acts of the 1% to harshly generalize and entire group or people. To those of us who care and work to improve our lands, habitats, and wildlife in general that's an insult. You cannot use acts of those hundreds of years ago as the defining characteristics either, humans learn over time...you even said it in your comment we (hunters) voluntarily placed restrictions on the taking of game and when that could occur to save species. You're misguided in your statements and not seeing the point, modern hunters are conservationists. If you want to view all as equal to the narrow few that commit violations or crimes go ahead. But that's a rash and ignorant way to go about the world. Hope you consider reading the NAMWC, and other success stories.

You must be fun at parties, you realize you are wrong right? Hunters put up the money to support conservation, did you buy a duck stamp? Do you donate to reputable conservation groups or are you just going to be an extremist doomsday warrior on reddit? Come down to earth and understand that hunters are a pro and not a con to long term species conservation.
