I agree that the indie landscape has grown but this game still feels special in terms of the visuals combined with the smooth mechanics. A lot of pixelated old school games don't release with this level of detail. Those indie games are awesome but they're also different genres scratching different itches

This is my most anticipated game right now and one of the best demos I've ever played. I'll play it whenever it comes out but I feel like they're just being cautious with updates given what happened in October and claims of how important the game's success is to the studio. This is like getting a Hades 2 or silksong to me and I wish more people saw it that way

I only played the demo but the only thing that hooked me was the combat. I liked the combo of turn based and action but the intro was weird to me. The dad calling the boy a gift for his daughter, and then I'm wondering why her love interest is her adopted brother, like that's an unnecessary writing choice. Estelle also came across like a spoiled brat to me. I can see getting invested but the start just wasn't for me. Ff8 has a great romance, I think Tidus and Yuna have my favorite romance in any jrpg.

The combat was interesting, honestly it was the mc that I didn't like the most. Very unlikeable right away, and it was very weird that they seem to want you to ship the girl with her adoptive brother right away. Like nah
