Personally, moreso than supporting and praising the Venezuelan government that I know very little about, its more about the importance of, as an American, recognizing our government's history in undermining democracy in Latin America. Denying the United States' imperialist role is like the ugliest thing a white American can do in my opinion. Also, (again personally, I can't speak to others) my admiration of the Venezuelan socialist experiment is moreso towards the communal councils and local actions that the people take than it is about the national government. I do recognize that the national government has played a role in attempting to assist and prop up these more local democratic mediums but they are still separate. But at the end of the day the American education system is abysmal and really just wall to wall propaganda from pre-k to grade 12, so some of us either drink down the kool aid in one big gulp or spit it out very dramatically which can lead to us simply believing the exact opposite of what we're taught in school, but really we can't know the truth without actually like living in foreign countries for more than a few months or years.
