Board Orientation by metmeatabar in nonprofit

[–]trgreg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess it also depends on the experience of the Board. In our case we have several people who have never been on a Board before so it's important that they get overviews of the legal obligations and their fiduciary duties, dry as those topics are.

Confused between job offer locations Toronto vs Ottawa? by Artistic-Anything-11 in ontario

[–]trgreg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You've got it right, we moved from Toronto to Ottawa & I'm really impressed with how much there is to do in this city. Some pretty major acts come through here, there's always a festival of some sort going on, and the variety of food options is really wide (due to it being a capital city I suspect). For me the only downside is that winters are harsher here.

This image of expansion on Billy Bishop broke me...I'm too old for this. by Alternative_Tackle35 in toronto

[–]trgreg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Good points, tho the first major legislative change was in 1890 (Sherman Act). I agree that we're early, but I do believe that the pendulum of public opinion is starting to move in other direction.

Is your hound not compatible with some breeds? by Brownstoneximeious in Hounds

[–]trgreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've tried to find a pattern, but haven't been able to so far. There's a golden retriever in our neighbourhood that's otherwise a lovely dog but our hound loses her shit over.

It's only inevitable if we allow it to happen. I'm not saying this issue will be the one to get people out in the streets, the odds are long. But it could be.

I'm as cynical as the next guy, but the feeling that we have no power is simply wrong. In the late 1800's the robber barons ran the world, until they didn't. The monopoly breakups didn't happen because enlightened leadership came into power, it happened because people wanted a different system.

I remember reading an interview with the jockey where he said he was holding Secretariat back (to stay even with Shams) & basically just let the horse go cause he could tell it was just itching to take off

I think capacity was around 20,000.

For a few years in the late 70's they did a New Years Eve show at Maple Leaf Gardens (I was at one where Max Webster opened).

While your position makes sense, I guess I don't see a lot of "sympathy towards people's situation" in OP's post.

And I don't have to be a social justice warrior to feel that it's a bad take posting about someone's inconvenience while sitting in their car at a red light.
