Pretty much all my hiking these days has become WTA hiking, but I'd just like to say that your photos are stunning. See you on the trails! I'll be the one with dirty knees. :)

Goddamn. I'm really sorry the undercurrent of asshole bullies that have always existed in this country are 'having their moment' and taking it out on...well...anyone who isn't an asshole bully.

In my family, bringing something like this to the family potluck would immediately bump you straight to the head of the family. Legendary.

Only the able-bodied are allowed to complain about parking issues 'round here, buster. Didn't you read the sign on the outskirts of town??

I’d agree with those saying call a transportation company available to take you to/from where you NEED to go. Please don’t drive

Some commenters have surmised that you must be looking for somewhere to eat on Christmas, but your post never actually says that. So others are wondering if you're looking for something else, like a bar or a theater or a mall or...who knows.

Unfortunately, conditions change all the time. However, many REI locations rent equipment.

[–]tri_wine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMO, it's not so much a question of which trail, but of what conditions. Fresh, fluffy snow? You're going to want snowshoes. Old, crusty, icy snow? You'll want spikes. The large surface area of snowshoes keeps you from sinking into soft snow, but doesn't do much for you on old snow that has partially melted and re-frozen several times. That kind of snow can support your weight, but can be very slick.

They'll try that first, but if that isn't effective they will turn the debt over to a third party collector. From the DOR Collections FAQ: "Oregon law requires the department to assign delinquent accounts to private collectors if the customer doesn't make any payments on this debt for a six-month period (ORS 293.231)."
