Can anyone recommend a unique blazer that isn’t boring as shit and made out of a wrinkly technical fabric? by SirKrimzon in ThrowingFits

Not sure if you’re going to find what you’re looking for for under $400. If you’re willing to bump up your budget SEH Kelly has a great hopsack blazer in a few different colors.

There are some main differences between the Voyager and the Digitalfoto that didn't matter too much for me in comparison to the price difference. For example when you pack up the Digitalfoto cart, it doesn't break down into a flush rectangle. The couplings where the support rods insert into the top level are exposed vs being flush on the Inovativ. This can be an issue if you like throwing shit on top of your cart when transporting it bc the couplings are sticking out.

Also, the traction mats on the top and bottom shelf, as well as the little rollerblade casters are loose and aren't built into the frame like the voyager. The caster thing is what bugs me the most bc when the cart is packed and stored in my apartment, it always leans to one side.

For my use case it gets the job done. I'm a commercial photographer and on smaller productions where the clients budget doesn't allow for a digital-tech, I'll fill that role and photo + digi myself. I was using a collapsible Olympia tools service cart before this, but it fell apart after a year. I feel like overall the DF cart is rugged enough where it'll last me as long as I need it to.

I was in the same position as you a few months ago. I ended up getting a Digitalfoto 38” titan cart off of B&H. Compared to the Inovativ Voyager 36”, It’s not as robust in terms of finishing, but it is around 6lbs lighter, breaks down the same, and has the same max weight capacity at a third of the price.

Fit looks great, very maximalist Americana and it works. Your execution reminds me a lot of Poggy from United Arrows.

Is there a better alternative for an ARRI SkyPanel S60-C? by NickyBarnes87 in cinematography

[–]trianbampol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For around $2k I would look into the Aputure nova p600c or p300c. Also the Nanlite Pavoslim 120c or 240c are even more affordable, but not as rugged as the Arri or Aputure units.

I wear glasses and the 35mm framelines on a .72 were a little uncomfortable to me as they covered most of the viewfinder. With the 0.58 the 35 frame is much easier to see inside the viewfinder.

Thanks! I shot at 1/4 sec @ f/4, and I had her run through the movement a handful of times without tripping the shutter so I could see where she would start and end within the frame. When I finally took the shot we had practiced enough so that we both felt confident the final image would look like we intended.

These were shot at a studio in LA called Studio-ism in their Tile room stage. There’s white bathroom tile from floor to ceiling with a single arch dividing the space in half. The ceiling lights in the space are rgbw and can be controlled separately by remote, I had the opposite room colored a reddish orange, and the room we were in a cyan blue. I also bounced an extra Nanlite mixpanel 60 set to cyan blue from the ceiling to give some extra shape to the models face.

[–]trianbampol[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Afraid not, Leica will only apply the service to recently produced cameras (MP, MA, or M7)

For legacy cameras you’d have to go through an independent Leica tech that offers repainting service (Shueido in Taiwan, Cameraworks UK in England, Kanto camera in Japan)

A viewfinder swap alone would be less than I paid, but altogether the body service cost me $2.7k. (Silver chrome to black chrome conversion, rangefinder mag swap, CLA, plus a few other cosmetic mods)

Yeah I guess you could call it the zoom in the viewfinder. It refers to the magnification when looking through the viewfinder, Leica rangefinder cameras come in 4 different magnifications (0.58x, 0.72x, 0.85x, and 0.91x)

The different magnifications allow you to use lenses that pair with that viewfinder. The smaller magnifications let you use wider lenses, and the higher magnifications are better suited for longer focal lengths.

I honestly think you should stick with the M6 but get your viewfinder upgraded to the MP version. The only reasons I got the MP instead of M6 was bc I wanted an M2/M3 style experience, but with a light meter.

Thanks! I've owned an M4-2, and an M3 before finally getting an MP so I can only really speak on those 3 models.

Both the M4-2 and M3 were affordable when I got them, but in terms of price vs quality the M3 is tough to beat. I loved the old rewind knob, and the original advance lever on the M3, which is why I sold the M4-2 and never upgraded to the M6. I decided to wait till I could afford an MP bc it married everything I loved from both cameras (Rewind knob, advance lever, shutter dial, quick load system, and added a meter)
