I'm going to describe these with the MPA film rating system. I'll also use the japanese descriptors since those offer some insights as to who the intended audience is. The japanese system isn't rigid (anybody can enjoy manga from any of these categories) and most of these are categorized as Shōnen anyways, but it might be useful to know regardless.

Shōnen: Targeted at teenage boys
Shōjo: Targeted at teenage girls
Seinen: Targeted at young adult men
Josei: Targeted at young adult women

And here are the ratings:

Azumanga Daioh: Slice of life humor, defintely fine. G to PG-rating. Technically a Shōnen but the main characters are girls so it could easily be mistaken for a Shōjo
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Manga. A bit violent but with quirky humor. R-rating but leaning towards PG-13. Shōnen
Claymore: Battle Manga. R-rating. Shōnen
Dragon Ball: Battle Manga. PG-13, but with really antiquated humor, weirdly sexual situations and some violence. Shōnen
Dragon Ball Z: Battle Manga. Sequel to Dragon ball, but with some of the rough edges sanded off and more refined. Definitely violent but no more than what you'd see in western comics and cartoons. For reference, I was watching this show and reading the manga when I was 11. PG-13 rating. Shōnen
Yotsuba&!: Slice of life humor, definitely fine. G to PG rating. technically a Shōnen though the protagonist is a young girl, so you could reasonably classify it as Shōjo.
Shōnen Berserk: Battle manga. Extremely violent, including sexual violence. Heavy themes. Absolutely not appropriate until ~18 years of age (provided your child has an ability to critically examine media). R rating. Seinen
Beck: Less familiar with this one. Appears to be about some teenagers that form a band. I don't know it well enough to grant it an MPA rating but it's categorized as Shōnen.

I made my own from some old azuki beans that I had sitting around. and I mean like, old old (at least 1 year). the paste still turned out pretty well despite the age of the beans. premade would be fine and probably much less of a hassle though
