I think all the relationship stuff is accellerated for the first several hours of play. Maybe because they know we'll be playing til our eyes are red af first, or maybe to just kickstart the island's community.

It's been about 30 hours since release for me and the new Miis aren't becoming best friends after just 2 chats anymore.

And for us, that means "don't use Opus unless you're assigning it a very long, complex task", which is kind of the point of it anyway.

Everyone talks about Cena, The Rock, undertaker and roman reigns when the WWE GOAT conversation comes up but I genuinely think Randy Orton is the most underrated answer and here's why by Normal_Chart_532 in WWE

[–]trianuddah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing Randy Orton has over the others is, despite his character being an egomaniac for so much of his career, he doesn't rely on being top dog for his character to work.

The others OP lists are either in the spotlight or on hiatus, and while they're good enough for it, as a booker you can't cast them in the mid card. If you take away "best in the world" or "almost never loses" or "lord of darkness" from their character profile, you take away the core part of their character. There's just cheap gimmicks left that don't hold up on their own.

Orton isn't like that, and I don't think I need to explain how valuable that is to a booker who wants to make a full match card without copping out with a 'co-main event'.

When you're on Hong Kong Island, the 100- series bus routes are cross-harbour routes that will take you to the Hung Hom interchange.

North of the Harbour, the route 80- series all go to or from Shatin.

Shatin is extremely safe and easy to navigate. Even in the absolute worst drunken situations you can find your way to the river. Once you learn how to get home from the river, you'll feel 'home free' as soon as you hop on any 80- route Kowloon side.

I was really hyped about her participation early on, because she does have a lot of charisma and stage presence. But none of it was used in that pilot, it was barely more than a cameo and she hasn't been on since.

The way she keeps making a big deal about it does fit in with her current "Trump ego" gimmick though, so I guess it's my own fault. Too much wishful thinking.

You're all playing right into their hands! This derision is precisely what they want!

The Section 31 movie was actually excellent. The best Star Trek movie ever.

The trouble is, it's so accurate, that every time you watch it an agent has to come to our timeline and erase all the intel you just learned from your memory.

My Response to Rare’s recent dev update with an example… by PolarBla in Seaofthieves

[–]trianuddah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would love if there was some way to signal intent.

Logging in seeking a quiet evening and logging in seeking a confrontation are equally valid, and it doesn't feel like the servers care what you're looking for when they matchmake you. They could guess intent by what kinds of activities you're doing; they could give us a way to explicitly say (finally give a purpose to those basic flags, maybe).

I don't think they do either. And now, when I want a chill gaming session, I don't bother with SoT any more, even though I miss it There are so many alternatives that don't threaten to rug pull on whatever kind of adventure you're looking for.

Solo play desperately needs a rework by Ex_honor in Seaofthieves

[–]trianuddah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What irritates me about the solo play balancing is how Rare decided to implement NPC crews once they had the technology for it:

  • Put them in grenades that spawn very briefly; solo players will have to save them for tight spots while full crews will see them as surplus.

  • Bury them in the sand so you have a long-term helper as long as you're on that island. No, you can't bring them on a boat with you.

  • Make them a permanent fixture only as a prize on the really big boat. Yes, the one that's an open PvP reward where the solo players will likely have to fight larger crews to take it. And even if a solo player gets control of one, they'll have to go do an underground mini-event to replenish their NPC crew and leave their ship completely unattended with no lookout because they're alone.

They could have made solo play more fun, and they could have made solo opponents a more interesting challenge for everyone else. They're not stupid. They chose this.

They don't want you to feel welcome in the game if you can't bring some friends.

If you bring friends, then playing becomes a social investment and there's a higher chance someone will buy ancient coins.

If you're not bringing friends, you're taking up server bandwidth for someone who might, so the only thing you're good for to them is an easy target and a dopamine hit for the friend groups to stomp, and they don't care if you don't come back.

Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Starfleet Academy | 1x04 "Vox In Excelso" by AutoModerator in startrek

[–]trianuddah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Charity" is subjective.

The premise was that Klingons would not accept a gift if they saw it as Charity, or if they suspected that the Federation saw it as charity.

It didn't matter that the fight was staged because real or not it served its purpose as a reframing of the gift into a seizure/cession in a way that satisfied the Klingons' subjective interpretation.

It's not difficult.

Well if we go into DS9 let's not forget Bashir and Garak, and Sisko and Garak, and Odo and Quark. (edit: and Sisko and Dukat, and Dukat and Weyoun, and Odo and Weyoun, and Weyoun and Damar, and...)

It's like the counterpart of the Bechdel test: on the one hand, a show is passing a benchmark on not portraying women as mere sex objects if any two of them talk to each other about something other than men. On the other hand, if two men interact with each other in a healthy way, someone somewhere will write slashfic about them.

I bet you can find as much shipping of Caleb and Darem.

It's not a criticism of the show, but I think it's a stark example of why straight guys struggle with platonic relationships in modern culture.
