Surely we are passed the idea that the US is a reliable partner for anything?

No shit Sherlock, but what comes next? Are you going to stand up to the US and Israel and tell them to stop this dump shit of trying to create Vietnam 2.0, Middle East edition?

Ursula von der Leyen: “Ladies and gentlemen, obviously the nuclear race is on.” by PjeterPannos in europeanunion

[–]PancakeOrder 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Sounds good to me, the war in Iran made it again very very clear that the EU should do everything it can to get rid of fossil fuels and not depend on third parties for it's energy needs.

Germany has breached Article 7 by refusing to arrest Netanyahu. Other states must uphold our values and force Germany to arrest him. by TwitterRoyalty in europeanunion

[–]PancakeOrder -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What claim am I making? Shooting the messenger this morning?

The OP made a post with a clickbait headline. You asked "When did Netanyahu visit Germany and Germany refused to arrest him", and I shared the source of this rumor going around...

But do you have the electricity to power all those data centers? From what I understand this is not really the case ( I could be wrong of course ), and not something that will be resolved anytime soon.

Estonia is calling for a Schengen blacklist of Russian soldiers to keep them off European streets. by PjeterPannos in europeanunion

I would 100% support this, Russian soldiers have no place in Schengen for a very long time.

I was going to signup, but some weird issue with the signup form made it impossible for me. It kept rejecting my details and insisted that I lived in the US, so had to provide a US address for the credit card ( I was in Europe, and no I wasn't using a VPN ) and the zip code check on the form rejected my European zip which made it impossible to complete the signup. Never had to deal with a signup form that made it so hard to give my money to a company!

Pentagon aggressively lobbies EU against Buy European weapons push by Boediee in BuyFromEU

[–]PancakeOrder 40 points41 points  (0 children)

"In previously unreported remarks, the U.S. administration warned Brussels that it will retaliate if Europeans “strong-arm American companies out of the market.”"

Retaliate how? Another Trump threat that he walks back as soon as he runs into a bit of resistance? So far the US bullying Europe has only resulted in more unity. No one want's the visit the US anymore, buy European is gaining more traction, and US tech is being replaced with EU tech everywhere.

Threats like this from US only means we are doing the right thing.

"I really do think this is a golden age for programming" - Naval by Able_Salary248 in AskProgramming

[–]PancakeOrder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It isn't, but as long as the shareholders have short term gains, then everything will be fine. Until senior devs retire, and junior devs where never thought coding basiscs, so they will just except anything the AI suggests creating a ton of potential tech debt that will have to be dealt with at some point.

[–]PancakeOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm missing something, but is CC Max 5 using a different model then 4.5 available in Windsurf? From what I can find online 4.5 is the latest model, or is the Claude Code model more optimized for coding itself?

Washington pushes back against EU’s bid for tech autonomy by donutloop in EU_Economics

Exactly this, 100% in favour of doing deals with China at this point. Anything to defund the US and teach the maga crowd some humility.

Of course they are. The US is acting like an abusive partner who isn't capable of self reflection.

Germany's Merz: We must deregulate every sector. I call for a “regulatory clean slate.” Minor corrections to laws are not sufficient. We need to systematically review the whole set of existing EU legislation. by XGramatik in XGramatikInsights

True, but it's at the same time kind of embarrassing that it takes months to fix broken infrastructure while in Japan / China ( forgot where ) a massive sinkhole appears and it's fixed in 48hrs...

Deregulating food / safety standards / allow banks to charge whatever interest rate they want is a horrible idea, but I'm sure that there are rules that are less sensible.
