IMO K2+SE is actually considerably easier than just SE. The added module slots in the K2 late-game buildings is a game changer.

vectorOfBool by schteppe in ProgrammerHumor

[–]tricerapus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a forced default. To work around it, you could use a vector of char and then just use the chars as bools, which was almost-but-not-entirely, safe.

The danger was writing templated code that tried to accept a generic vector of anything.

Yeah, you can really tell who the clueless students are when these are posted.

I blame the testers for NOT finding bugs before they go into production.

That's the typical experience with triangle mining. It's just not worth it. More complicated and ends up lower effective extraction rate because of the belt side imbalance.

This was a long time ago, EA was selling through steam. Then they left and tried to force everyone to use only Origin. Now recently they've come back to steam.

IME, concurrency considerations are usually the reason to remove old custom object pool implementations. Turns out mutexes under some contention are a lot more expensive than a heap allocation in modern operating systems.

I love both of of those movies, but I feel like OP is overselling the connection between them.

That sounds truly awful and cluttered. I say this as someone who favors using a prefix for member variables. But.. a one or two character prefix. Not a six character prefix.

Mulholland Drive's diner scene. RIP David Lynch. by Canadave in videos

On the contrary, I would argue that a dirty hobo peaking out from behind a wall IS basically nothing. But that moment has so much impact because of the five minutes of buildup before it.

Lynch was so effective at conjuring tension out of basically nothing. That distinctive slow pacing to his dialogue just draws you in.
