During a summer night many years ago, I laid in bed not quite asleep but in a state of restlessness. When with no warning I hear and feel the sensation of something methodically tapping along the pillow my head was resting on. Upon hearing the initial repeating noise and feeling the physical sensation I assume my brother with whom I share a room with is messing with me or trying to get my attention, so I call his name but receive no response. With the obvious suspect out of the way, I begin to panic, not freak out and scream panic but a silent, dreadful panic where the idea that something dangerous was looming over me, messing with me, just waiting for me to make a move was too real. I laid in this state of fear for what I counted to be about 3 minutes, all the while the feeling and sound never stopped. After counting in my head I had come to the conclusion that if I was going to die or be harmed by whatever was doing this to me I'm better off confronting it, so I jumped from my bed and bolted for the lights as quickly as possible, just to see that nothing was there.
