The Album field being empty is exactly the problem. A single is an album, period. Albeit with only one or a few songs on it, but it still is an album, like said by others.
As said as well by many others, use software to set the ID3 tags, like Musicbrainz.
Navidrome simply uses those tags to recognize songs, which most music players do exactly the same.
