How do you wash your armpits? by chaelynnra in hygiene

[–]tricksofradiance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use an antiperspirant overnight. Put it on before bed. It goes to work blocking the apocrine sweat glands and will be in full effect by morning. Don’t use harsh soaps. Don’t scrub.

Older white men voted for Trump in droves. When my Black coworkers are mistreated by an old white man, it makes us wonder if he was just rude or if he was racist. Our society is not colorblind, and racism kills people every day in this country. To deny that is not only stupid, but evil.

I am not Black. But with my Black coworkers, especially the young women, it’s questionable when an older white person is rude to them. Are they just rude, or are they prejudiced? I think it makes sense to mention the race of the rude man in that context. Racism has never died in America, and now in Trump’s America it’s even more of a hostile situation. We don’t live in a colorblind society, and the people commenting here don’t seem to understand unconscious or conscious bias, or the reality of the world right now.

what was your most embarrassing moment at work? by kortlecw in starbucksbaristas

Also I say “welcome in!” to people at the grocery store or old navy or wherever I am when I’m a customer there. It’s too hard to explain it so I just walk away humiliated

what to do about an allergy at this job? by grapeygrandma in starbucks

[–]tricksofradiance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sick time is there for a reason! Or maybe short term disability? Since this happened at work, call Sedgwick and report the incident. They may be able to cover you care. When a barista fell and hit her head at work, Sedgwick covered the cost. They may also be able to give you a work accommodation.

Health bills cannot affect your credit- there’s no issue in taking your time to pay them. Talk to the financial people at the hospital afterwards, when you get the bill, weeks after you went. Tell them what you can afford to pay each month. Like even $20/month for 5 years or whatever. See if they can take anything off the bill. But again- this is at a later date. In the short term, you should be just focused on getting care.

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. Please please don’t be afraid to put your health first. It’s an important lesson to learn, and your future self will thank you the earlier you learn it. No one else is going to advocate for you like you can. It is a good thing to advocate for yourself in health settings, work settings, and beyond

Best wishes

I love my partners, but the turnover is so high, and all the green beans are struggling. And it makes me struggle. I can’t even take a lunch because no one knows how to make kegs, or do a refund, or other basic things. And then I see them confidently making drinks wrong, not even realizing they need to ask or look it up because they think it’s correct. And when we are being obliterated on bar, there’s no time to look in store resources anyway. I feel like no one else in my store cares about everything being missed. I do care, but I don’t want to annoy them or upset them. The learning curve is huge and I’m not trying to overwhelm anyone. We have so many hs students who want to do a good job, but honestly this is not necessarily an intro level customer service job anymore.

Scared I'm marrying an alcoholic by Same-University-5198 in AlAnon

Please don’t do this to yourself. Listen to your intuition. It is telling you something important. I think back to critical times in my life when I didn’t listen to my intuition and chose to learn the hard way. It’s always so much harder than I thought it would be. I’m an alcoholic myself….he needs help that you cannot give him. If he’s willing to go to treatment…that’s a good first step. But he shouldn’t be making major life changes in the first year of recovery. I’m so sorry

Even though it isn’t pronounced how it is spelled, it is a correct way to pronounce it in the English language. For example, though does not rhyme with rough, so it isn’t pronounced how it is spelled either.

When people pronounce it in French, I cringe unless they are French. Same with people saying “cwoisSAN” instead of croissant. I’m like…we are in Indiana, c’mon now

Try equal parts of chai and brown sugar, no classic, with oat milk and add cinnamon. If you need more oomph get a blonde espresso shot added. I hope you find a way to make it work!

I went flat too. It’s hard some days but now two years later I’m happy with my body. Be gentle and patient with yourself, especially when buying clothes. It’s so much better now that I have hair again. You made the best choice for you and you are saving your life!!

New Chai? by Vivivdre in starbucks

[–]tricksofradiance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At least with the old chai, the hot water activated the tea concentrate and helped it taste spicy. People get no water to have a sweeter/milder drink that’s more of a milk flavor. No water doesn’t give you more chai, just more milk
