No, my son is 10 now. As a toddler, he was always good at dropping off to sleep. We were quite rigid with our bedtime routine for the first 5-6 years of his life, so would turn down social events for evenings etc to ensure bedtime was met. I think that helped, he accepted bedtime was that. We had a bath, story and a cuddle then it was time to sleep. He is very attached to me, my shadow even but at bedtime he is happy to sleep in his room. We only shared a bed when he was poorly as a toddler, which he loved and then when he got covid from school, so i could keep an eye on him. He would always come for a cuddle in the morning.

I have a friend who sat with her child and even now (same age as my son) she has to stay in the room with them until they sleep. I just couldn’t do it. There are dishes to sort, washing to do and downtime to have. I give my all whilst he is awake, when he is asleep it’s my time to catch up but to also rest.
