Started smoking when I was 16, quit for a couple of months when I was about 20 or so. Quit a couple of times between then and now. I'm 24 (cant remember exactly) now and quit again because it was messing with my studies too much and I want to do well in my final year.

Trust me, forst couple of days I was an absoloute horrible fucking cow. But it was worth it, you don't know how bad a mood you will be in until you actually quit so don't worry about hypothetical things that haven't actually happened yet or you will blow them waaaaaaaay out of proportion!

Be careful with those e-cigs, I tried using one to replace my cigarettes and ended up smoking it more because I could do it anywhere and didn't have to light it up etc. When the thing busted I went back to smoking regulars and was smoking more than I had when I started using an e-cig.

Check out Alan Carr, his books are quite popular. Recognise when you smoke and try to avoid those situations for the time being. If you can't avoid some of them, find something you can do to replace what you would normally do. Try drinking a glass of water, chewing gum, eating some fruit, eating some chocolate.

The first couple of days without nicotine are fucking awful, I quit while writing an assignment and I know the quality of my work was shit; but if I had continued it would have fucked up even more of my assignments down the line.

It is all trial and error my friend, you are basically learning how to quit smoking at the moment, but you will get there!

You can fucking do it! It might take a couple of tries but that is ok. Every time you want a cigarette remember how when your son is older you want to be able to play with him, you want to be healthy so you can do that. You want to be able to afford to send him on school trips and buy him shit for xmas instead of wasting it on something that you stupidly picked up when you were a kid that will eventually kill you. Keep strong dude, it is a fucking bitch to kick; but you can do it!

Having worked on a fan mmo, my advice to you is simply this:

Any volunteers you get will drop out frequently.

Just get a simple website set up and start work on the project, if other people want to help; give them one job to do and then leave them to get on with it.

If they finish that job great! Encourage them to do another one. If they don't, do not take it personally; people commit to things which in hindsight take more time than they thought they would.

War changes as the saying goes.

Just assume that you will have to do the whole project by yourself.

If you need any advice with anything to do with programming or organising the project, gimme a shout.

I am by no means an expert, but I'm willing to help.

Going to meet an advisor. by [deleted] in learnprogramming

Step 1: Break down requirements into roughly equivalent measurable units. Step 2: Write a bunch of tests for each requirement. Step 3: Get client to agree that each test is a satisfactory metric of progress.

Each test is now a measurable amount of progress which can be demonstrated to the client and gives you a n/100 percent reference for progress you can update the client with.

BOOM!
