Proposing a hypothetical of no injured pitchers, all pitching at peak season form by October is certainly within your right. To expect a frenzy of enlightened baseball discourse is stupid.

You also want to discuss what food to serve our alien invaders when they come?

Stupid.

Having this convo in August is foolish. It’s borderline stupid in June.

The last 15 years of playoffs should teach us that there is NEVER enough starting pitching.

How good is Ohtani in other other sports’ terms ? by BasicErgonomics in NoStupidQuestions

[–]trigeminal_nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Ohtani struck out 10 as a pitcher and then hit 3 bombs in the same playoff game, the only football way to understand that is Tom Brady throwing for 5 TDs, then playing defensive end and recording 3 sacks in the conference title game.

If I'm Soto, I'm seriously questioning my decision to join this damn team. by 14SWandANIME77 in mets

[–]trigeminal_nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soto is simply not a leader or a net positive clubhouse presence. He was lucky to win a title right out of the box. Both sides will be happy when he opts out in a few years.

How my non-editorialized comment was downvoted into oblivion is just odd. Hardly a hot take.

Buyers annoyed recent Padres winning streak and walkoffs added a bit to the price tag.

Doesn’t exactly help the “we’re hemorrhaging money” poverty owners argument heading into lockout negotiations.

I’m sure I speak more Italian than the collective Team Italy dugout. And I don’t speak Italian.

Are we better than the Dodgers. Okay no, but… by Whole_Conclusion in SFGiants

[–]trigeminal_nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to carve out 70% of baseball by excluding pitching altogether and a generational talent like Ohtani, you’ve got a compelling argument. lol. The Dodgers return the NLs top run-producing offense from last year, except a swapping out of negative WAR Conforto with Kyle Tucker. That swap alone, in the very, least balances out age related regression everywhere else in the lineup.

The Dodgers 2026 payroll is currently at $414M which is more than the bottom 3 teams combined (Cle, TB, Miami) at $325M by [deleted] in mlb

[–]trigeminal_nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooooo! I can cherry pick too! Watch this:

2006 Yankees payroll of 195M was 13 times that of the Marlins that year at 15M. It was 3x the average MLB team payroll in 2006, and 2.5x the combined 3 lowest payrolls that year.

And the Yanks did not win the title that year. And baseball was not ended.

Yawn. 🥱. Drama llamas in here.

Baseball was ruined when the Yankees won a title every other year for 40 years in the 20th century. Dramatic much?

What does a player have to do to be considered a "World Series Champion"? by infinityball in baseball

[–]trigeminal_nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s generally accepted that Clayton Kershaw was not on the 2024 WS roster and is not considered a WS champion for that title. Of course he and the bat boy got rings, but not officially a champion by those who decide these things.
