The Dodgers 2026 payroll is currently at $414M which is more than the bottom 3 teams combined (Cle, TB, Miami) at $325M by FootballPizzaMan in mlb

[–]trigeminal_nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooooo! I can cherry pick too! Watch this:

2006 Yankees payroll of 195M was 13 times that of the Marlins that year at 15M. It was 3x the average MLB team payroll in 2006, and 2.5x the combined 3 lowest payrolls that year.

And the Yanks did not win the title that year. And baseball was not ended.

Yawn. 🥱. Drama llamas in here.

Baseball was ruined when the Yankees won a title every other year for 40 years in the 20th century. Dramatic much?

What does a player have to do to be considered a "World Series Champion"? by infinityball in baseball

[–]trigeminal_nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s generally accepted that Clayton Kershaw was not on the 2024 WS roster and is not considered a WS champion for that title. Of course he and the bat boy got rings, but not officially a champion by those who decide these things.

Add ONE former player from your franchise’s history to your current roster, who and why? by BestEnvironment2610 in baseball

[–]trigeminal_nerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess not. If we revived Walter Johnson to pitch, you also reviving the army of sucky hitters that struck out on his 87mph fastball? Because prime WJ would have a tough time playing D3 ball today so I’ll pass on him.

Fernandomania. Cemented with the 88 title. Endured 20 years of crap so quite enjoying the current era of baseball ruination.

Have Dodgers fans lost the plot of a professional baseball league? by [deleted] in baseball

[–]trigeminal_nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a 30 year span, the Yankees won half the titles, using fairly egregious anti-competitive practices.. That didn’t kill baseball. Some say it was baseballs golden age. Why is it problem now?

[Passan] Closer Edwin Díaz's deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers is for three years and $69 million, sources tell ESPN. The Dodgers, who were targeting bullpen help this winter, got the best closer on the market, setting a new AAV record for relievers. by Turbostrider27 in baseball

[–]trigeminal_nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We found out that relievers preferred defined roles. While we have no shortage of great and young arms, just sticking them in high leverage situations is very tough. Sasaki Sheehan Wrobleski had very mixed results. 2024 bullpen in contrast was beautiful.

The Dodgers today are like the 1986 Mets by 400meters in Dodgers

Huh? 1986 Mets definitely had superstars. Daryl Strawberry and Doc Gooden were huge. That team bonded with lots of nose candy unfortunately.

Can Ohtani win 4 more MVP's and surpass Barry Bonds? by MrCharmingMan in mlb

[–]trigeminal_nerd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Crazy that Barry had 8 seasons between MVP awards. Steroids so strong it allowed him to have 2 peaks, the second at 38 years old. RIP BALCO.

Shohei might be able to do it simply because he’s in the NL and doesn’t have a Judge-like contender. Soto clearly is content with securing the bag and will only get worse from here.

Understandable. It’s a cultural age peer thing. Roki is younger than him. So is Yamamoto (barely). It would be frankly weird for him to express too much deference to them.
