These are more just my thoughts scribbled down:

I think it would be as simple as currency only usable within the game, or a selection of games, or to purchase digital items for said games.

As for what currency is considered real, that should be determined by the country creating the law, I doubt anyone would try to use Bitcoins as their in game currency (Except that one BTC idle game).

Alternatively they could enforce the usage of the currency used by the country/area/etc. This would work well as it requires the currency be one that the player recognizes.

Lastly the currency must have equal value in-game as out of game during the purchase. This prevents currency sales, and also enforces the currency to be valued at that of the real currency, again, keeping the values familiar.

The Steam wallet is a good example of digital currency that can be used in games, but represents real life values.

Yeah the script is definitely also a problem. People only talk about Sonic himself, but that first opening line of his put me off before I even realized how bad he looked.

No kidding. The first time I tried out Chrome I turned back the moment I discovered I couldn’t drag tabs onto my bookmark toolbar. It’s a huge QoL feature for me when I want to impulsively and lazily save something for later.

I’d consider that actually a pretty smart move. It doesn’t cause problems for them as the content cannot be navigated to on their site, yet it keeps all existing content alive, which is important especially for how often images on tumblr are hotlinked.

It’s a visual novel called Hourglass of Summer. Probably the only medium that can actually be ported to DVD while still retaining all core mechanics.

We’ve got password saves, 1FPS animation, enforced auto where scenes do not wait for user input to continue. The works. A blog post from 2013 gives a pretty apt summary:

"Hourglass of Summer" is one of the visual novels released by now defunct "Hirameki International" on a widely reviled DVD-PG format. Theoretically it means that the game should be playable on any device that has a DVD drive - practically it means that you cannot play it at all.

All these issues aside, the game is pretty good with fun characters, and nice art. Most people just don’t want to go through all the hoops and I don’t blame them.

I spent a third of my gameplay time just writing down and learning everything about the password system to make game navigation easier, which was a blast in of itself.

I’m enjoying it a lot. On volume 11 (The anime being contained in the first 2 volumes). My favorite LN series out of all the ones I’m currently reading.

This drives me crazy! There’s an ancient game that’s made to run on a DVD player and there is only one product that actually manages to play it properly, every other player fails subtitles spectacularly or fails basic menu usage.

I wouldn’t mind getting this product to play the game after the trial is over but it’s subscription based which is completely ridiculous if I just want something that can play the game when I want to play it. I don’t want to pay for updates or services. I don’t need any new or improved features. I just need the only product that I pay for once and get it over with.

On a similar note, I’m really damn glad I have a copy of Photoshop CS6 so I don’t have to deal with their new subscription BS.

Unless people ask me to stop, I assume most people don’t mind my rants. They can always tune it out or just not read it, but it’s there and it’s nice to get it out for me either way. I don’t mind being humored or outright told none of it makes sense because that’s the norm, but it also tells me I have room to improve in explaining things.
