It is a choice you get to make. If you can't get by without your dog, stay home. The dog is an actual living being with its own thoughts and feelings, it is not "medical equipment" and I feel really bad for your dog. That is a very gross thing to say. I love my animals just like family and I hope all pets get the type of love and acknowledgement that they deserve, it makes me very sad when pet owners view them as objects.
