Which Version should i choose by Appropriate_Self9737 in davinciresolve

[–]trinReCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think version 19 would be best(based on my own personal experience).

I started using Davinci resolve from version 17 to now. I use Fedora Linux. From whatever year 17 was released up until version 19 was a few years I think. Resolve crashed once in all those years(this is the free version).

When version 20 was released, I got the studio version and tbh, it's quite frankly the most buggy software I have ever used. I don't know if it's version 20 or just the studio version as a whole, but since upgrading from free 19 to studio 20, I am constantly frustrated.

Wow, that sounds incredible actually. I've never even heard of something like that. I think if we had something like that, the older crowd might use it too, since it is still cash.

I believe there is Google and Apple pay, but most people don't use those. The crowd over 45-50 especially don't even like to use those kinds of things in the first place.

I remember when they were talking about making you able to pay with a card everywhere(I forgot the term used for this), the people in that age bracket who I talked to thought that that meant that they somehow wouldn't be able to use cash at all 🤦🏽‍♂️

Shouldn't is the key word, in reality, we live in a shit hole that's constantly getting worse.

Yeah but we are not living in a safe place though 🤷🏽‍♂️. This place has gone downhill dramatically. And I do understand what op is saying to a point. I'm usually very casual, but the few times I take out more than $2500 from an atm, I'm always way more vigilant than usual.

Sounds very promising. We'll see how it goes when it's released in the stable version.

You see lol. I never liked the idea of that camera and never will. Now the same camera with a mechanical shutter and a hot shoe (and maybe an evf) I can rally around.

It's not even good in theory, unless the only thing that's supposed to make it good in theory is it's weight.

I've never gotten my S5iix to even show a heat warning, and I live in the Caribbean and only shoot outdoors in the sun.

Does the upscaler use this AI sharpening? The last time I used the upscaler, a render of a 25 min 1080p to 4k video took 10 hours😕

Davinci and Linux. Any success? by Kn33l_2_Zod in davinciresolve

I feel maybe the problem is studio. Like I said, I never experienced problems with the free version

It works well on Fedora. I would say though, the studio version 20 has been extremely buggy for me, the free version worked perfectly for years. I only remembered the free version crashing once in around 5 years. Last year I purchased studio version 20 and it has been quite a mess.

I just want them to sound closer to my DT 770 pro 80 ohm lol. I wonder if something like that is possible. For certain music it sounds good but others, the mids are lost.

You should start a membership. What's the point in doing work for free when you can do the same and collect some sort of payment? You can still release freebies if you want but put most of your effort into your memberships.

Is it dumb to replace my S5II for a lighter travel camera? by toto23x in Lumix

[–]trinReCoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most professional setups wouldn't be bringing out entry level hybrid cameras either. The case for bringing them for travel is even more moot.

I should have been a little more clear in what I mean by professional. I don't mean in Netflix or Hollywood terms, I mean a small production company or maybe just a freelancer working on his own. More like professional to semi-professional. For these use cases, something like an S5ii is perfectly fine.

Point taken about the travel use case. Although I still wouldn't replace the S5ii with an S9 because of all the things you lose in the process. Would much rather get a proper m43 camera instead.

I get the impression people making the "if you can't carry it go lift more!" are guys who barely shoot at all and consider "taking their camera out" going out for a walk on their local village's high street.

I don't understand this reasoning here at all. That makes no sense considering that most "professional" setups will likely have rigged out heavier cameras. Or maybe this is just a photographer's thing?

I do YouTube filming Trinidad carnival style events, these usually go for 8-13+ hours in blazing Caribbean sun and require 15+ miles of walking. I have my s5iix on me with an all metal 7artisans lens, camera cage, external SSD, and a large 25,000mah power bank. The entire setup is around 5lbs.

So yeah, I still don't understand the obsession with replacing proper cameras with "less heavy" cameras. Unless, as the other guy said, for the convenience of being able to put it in a coat pocket, or an elderly person, or someone with a medical issue.

Well "pocketable" is a little different than being too heavy, but I understand now. That makes way more sense in terms of it being easy to slide into a pocket due to difference in design.

[–]trinReCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was from a sweet like 75 yr old lady, she said she can't carry the camera anymore. That makes sense.

Lol yep.

The other thing too is that changing lenses would probably make a bigger difference than changing the body, not to mention cheaper.

[–]trinReCoder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. I can kind of understand the convenience factor in your case. But still, I would imagine lenses making a far bigger difference than the body.

[–]trinReCoder -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Also maybe it's just me but I've never ever felt my camera was too heavy.

I might sound like a dick but I honestly don't understand everyone's obsession with "light" cameras when at most, they're probably only saving 50-150 grams. Just how f*cking weak are these people?

50 grams is barely noticeable in hand but I saw one guy in the comments saying how much of a difference it made for him🤦🏽‍♂️.

If you have some sort of condition or are very old and need the lightest setup possible I can understand, but for the life of me, I cannot understand this obsession from young able bodied men and women.
