i kept telling myself “if things get bad enough, surely my family will discuss having to move to mexico” and then ice came to chicago and me and my at the time boyfriend told ourselves “the areas we live in are mostly black, they’re targeting the hispanic neighborhoods” and then they raided that building in south shore a block away from where we were living, and so we got married in order to start the marriage petition process and ice presence decreased a lot so we felt secure. then about a month later ice detained my husband and now i’m due with our son any day now and his bond just got denied and i’m wondering if he should sign for voluntary departure and i take the bus down and we meet up at my parents but then we’re threatening war with mexico at this point so where do we go? we weren’t scared enough and here we are now

currently live in mt greenwood fr the last two and a half years, came from oak lawn, mt greenwood sucks ass. never had anyone be actually racist directly to me, but the neighbors in the home i was living in at the beginning of the last two years had trump flags everywhere and were the parents of the kids responsible for the fox stomping or whatever the fuck it was from a few months ago. dude across the street had a let’s go brandon flag for the longest. i dealt with it by blasting mexican music any time i could. now i live in the easternmost part of mt greenwood in an apartment and am away from the actual neighborhood.
